So I'm beginning to play around with still lifes and such, and since I've got a bajillion Disney things around the house, and mom has 5 bajillion Disney things, I started there, of course.
"This is my royal vizier, Jafar, he's delighted, too."

I love Jafar. The best Disney villain of all time.
If anyone has any pointers on how to go about figure/doll still lifes, I'm all ears. I'm not looking for critique on this piece, per se, since at the moment I'm just playing around, but I'd love to hear tricks and experiences from people if they have them. Especially what to use for lighting, backdrops, and such.
I'm trying to get mom to start taking pictures of her collections for her stock site.
I used her camera for this one.And he's a doll, not an "action figure".

I've never been much of a doll person, to be honest. I prefer stuffed animals. I do collect masks of many sorts.

the only thing i still collect thats disney is the movies and last time i checked i have over 99 movies that also includs the entire dark age collection as well

I don't believe they make it anymore, but you may be able to find one on eBay or a similar site.

It's because I'm a huge collector of those Aladdin dolls, I have the complete collection, outside Jafar. I have already looked online, this is and was the only one i found... That's why I asked you, where I could find or buy it somewhere. I'm a boy from Belgium, so maybe I could or may ask for your help, if u want? Grtz.

I'm futzing with my camera and taking still lifes of my own.
I was wondering what experience you have.
I've been doing still lifes for quite some time. I would do more, but I'm worried that someone could identify me by my backgrounds. Check out my gallery and see what I've been doing wrong, but please be gentle, I do work with doll collectors.

One thing I did was make a light box out of a big cardboard box and some wax paper. It really helped to control the background and the light source. Most of the pics I've taken with it are posted over at my stock site. It's pretty easy - you just cut big holes in the sides and top, cover them with the wax paper, and then cover the inside with white or black posterboard (or whatever color you may want). I want to get a light umbrella but that will have to wait for me to have some disposable income. 
Also, I'd recommend buying a tripod if you don't have one already. I've got a cheap $30 one I got at Target and it does fine - that way you can use more dramatic lighting without having to up the ISO. Then you can use the manual settings on your camera for longer exposures in dimmer light or change up the aperture for shallower/deeper depth of field.

Wow...I guess I'll put off that until I have some disposable income of my own. I usually work on a shoe-string budget. I was given a camera that does JPEG stills and MPEG videos. It belonged to my father. My father bought a new camera after giving me his old one. I usually do photos for references for my doll forum friends.
What I really want to do is do photostories. I would love to tell stories with dolls. I have a lot of dolls and I ordered four more dolls just this morning. I hope to achieve my goal of being a storyteller that becomes popular with Disney fans.
Your advice helps, but I guess that I should prioritize better.

He's a doll, he doesn't have any movable joints. He's also Barbie sized, so no action figure.
