Spurred by an actual debate between my friends and , about whether or not you could have a Magikarp with the move Tackle, which supposedly you can catch or trade for a special one that can in the original game, but either way it made for a very interesting argument that I am very sure that Pikachu never had to be entertained with.Related content

i do know that he can learn tackle at level 15 though. not sure how far back thats true though.

I checked Bulbapedia (interestingly enough), and it lists it as far back as Generation 1... Serebii only goes back as far as Gen 3, but it says the same. It's also true for Mystery Dungeon games, apparently.

If you train your magikarp it'll learn tackle. I did this and it learned tackle a few levels before evolving

Good to know! We originally thought there was a trainer you could trade with that had a magikarp with tackle but we couldn't remember
