Description

Usually I start my landscapes by doing small thumbnail sketches until I find a nice overall composition and color scheme. But this time I did something more fun and inspiring: I took an AI that generates landscapes and adjusted neural network weights until I found something pleasing. Now it doesn't sound like fun but it really is! Think of a futuristic version of starting at clouds for an inspiration.

I'm sure this will be the process for my upcoming paintings too. It avoids the dreaded white canvas all artists hate and it serves as a more high resolution base for a painting than what a thumbnail sketch would provide. Plus it's 2020 so one needs to use AI for something useful, right?
