Description October is the month of kiku, or chrysanthemum. It's a popular motif in Japanese heraldry - there are more than 150 different patterns of this mon. The Emperor used a sixteen-petal chrysanthemum with sixteen tips of another row of petals showing behind the first row.

The typical motif for this month is a big, yellow or white flower with golden center, but in 2010 a lot of maiko wore bouquets of little pink and red flowers with green leaves and silver mizuhiki cord. I loved this design! The difference are the bells - the originals don't have them, but I love bells too much not to include them.

I took me around 18 hours to make it. Plus a few days of research - I guess doing research takes longer for me than actually completing the project. It's smaller than the originals and less regular than my usual projects but I like how it turned out.
