Young Findekáno and Arakáno in Valinor! And a companion piece to my previous work of Findekáno and Írissë
While drawing this, I listened to the song “Bryd one breere .” It really inspired the feel and composition of this painting, and a story idea developed in my head along the way, especially since I’ve been thinking about Fingon recently. So here it is: there’s a Finwë-family gathering going on, which is quite taxing on Nolofinwë’s family, but little Arakáno feels it most especially and gets quite stressed. Therefore, Findekáno takes him away when the others aren’t looking and sings him to sleep. “Bryd one breere” sounds like a lullaby to me, so I imagined that Findekáno would sing something similar to that, or at least with the same melody
The warm light in the painting is the light coming from the other room. The pale light, on the other hand, is Telperion’s light through the bedchamber window.
Also, Arakáno is wearing Findekáno’s golden beads here, and I imagine that Findekáno wove them into his brother’s hair as a way to calm and comfort him. Don’t worry, he’ll remove them carefully once Arakáno’s asleep XDD
