Description

Commission for Cliffjumper727 , who wanted my help in designing the characters for his fan-made sequel to the underrated TV series W.I.T.C.H. (seriously, if you haven't seen it yet, please do check it out!).

His sequel revolves around a second generation with the children of the original W.I.T.C.H. girls as the main characters. For today's character, I'm happy to introduce Phobos' new right hand...hailing straight from the comics, presenting Johnathan Ludmoore!

BIO:
Many years ago there was once an alchemist named Johnathan Ludmoore. A brilliant man and well liked for his humble demeanour, dedication to his work and eagerness to push the boundaries of knowledge, all for the sake of improving Meridian and the realms. He was a member of Queen Weira’s court, and was well liked by the Royal Family, particularly the young prince, Phobos, to whom Johnathan was a tutor and tasked with teaching the young prince about magic and how to use his powers effectively.

But, in truth, Ludmoore was hiding a dark and terrible secret. Truth be told, Ludmoore had no qualms about getting effective results in his works, even if it meant using unethical procedures. This came to light once Ludmoore’s secret laboratory was unwittingly stumbled upon by palace guards and discovered kidnapped Meridianites inside. Many of whom had been badly disfigured from constant experimentation. This outrage caught the ear of the Queen, who was utterly appalled by his heinous discovery and hurt by this deception and betrayal. Jonathan was brought in front of the Oracle to stand trial for his crimes. However, the crafty man had foreseen his impending incarnation and had made a plan. Managing to break free, Jonathan managed to take one of the books from the Grand Library of the Oracle, before using a seal tucked away in his coat to open a portal and disappear into the vastness of the Metaworld.

That was the last anyone would hear of Johnathan Ludmoore in Meridian. The Queen swiftly ordered all of his research papers and his laboratory completely destroyed and Ludmoore’s name scrubbed from all corners of Meridian, wanting no evil from within to take hold of her kingdom. Unfortunately, Weira would never see her own son’s plot to rise up to seize power from her and rule Meridian himself. The only one to remember Ludmoore’s name. Phobos.

As for Johnathan, he had found himself stranded in an unknown and desolate world. Normally, this would spell the end for any normal person. But not Johnathan. His knowledge of alchemy and magic were vital to his survival, by studying the world around him and using whatever he could find to sustain himself. And after what seemed like three ages gone by to the alchemist, Ludmoore had his breakthrough. He’d created his own cell key to escape his prison. A portal opening staff to escape this hell and restart his research anew.

Ludmoore would hop from world to world. First, he’d settle down in it, gather new skills and ideas in both alchemy and magic, as well do some of his own twisted experiments before moving on to another realm, leaving no evidence behind. But one place he stayed in gave him an interesting tidbit. Overhearing a conversion, Jonathan discovered that Meridian had been taken over by a vile prince. Prince Phobos. This nugget of information had him calling for Meridian. Over and over he tried to reach the right realm, but could never find it. That is, until one day… Jonathan found himself back in Meridian! But… This wasn’t the Meridian he’d expected Phobos to be ruling. Everyone was so… Happy and free. The young Phobos Johnathan knew wouldn’t rule a world like this!

After some time studying up on Meridian’s history, reading about the rise and fall of Phobos, the Rebellion and the crowning of Queen Elyon, Jonathan was utterly disgusted at what had come of the realm he once called home. Not only was magic being subjugated in favour of this new heinous steam technology, but Elyon was far too peaceful. To Ludmoore, Phobos truly understood and knew about what it meant to be a powerful leader. To have people fear you and obey you without question. But Phobos was long since dead. The books said that the terrible tyrant was killed when an unworldly black demon came and decimated Meridian.

But Johnathan learned that Phobos’s death was greatly exaggerated. Searching for books to study more about Meridian of yesteryear, he came to a hidden old timey bookshop called, St. Elisabetta’s Book Shoppe and came face to face with the owner, Old Man Malakai. To the alchemist's surprise, the old geezer recognized Johnathan. The two began chatting like old friends upon discovering surprisingly shared a lot in common. Most notably a hatred for Elyon and the current state of Meridian she had made it in.

But the biggest surprise came when Malakai brought Johnathan to the back of the shop and revealed some incredible secrets to the man… It turns out that all this time…

Phobos was still alive, plotting to take back Meridian for himself.

And so, Jonathan and his prince reunited and began their long wait, plotting and scheming to return Meridian to the age of Phobos. To the days of glory.

Thus began… The Clan of Phobos.

PERSONALITY:
Like Lord Cedric before him, Jonathan serves as Phobos’s right-hand man. Often taking the helm of the missions that Clan goes on. But unlike the snake changeling, Jonathan’s loyalties are unwavering to his Prince. Whenever Johnathan does something, it’s almost always to Phobos’s benefit as well. The alchemist sees Phobos as the true ruler of Meridian, believing that Elyon is not only unworthy for the throne as she’s far too peaceful for a kingdom to thrive, but that her ideas of advancements in technology threaten to make the ancient mystic arts and alchemy that he has dedicated his life to, become forgotten relics of the past to buried under pipes and gears.

On the surface, Ludmoore appears to be polite, intelligent, and in some cases, quite suave. Jonathan likes to see himself be depicted in the eyes and minds of others as an educated and civilised man, and this can be seen in his sophisticated attire befitting his role as second in command of the Clan of Phobos.

Jonathan is often the most civil of all the members of the Clan. His demeanour is always humble and respectful, even to those who are not overly fond of him, which include the spider-woman Miranda and the huntress, Snow. Both of whom dislike Johnathan’s sycophantic tendencies and always reminding what they are doing is all for Phobos’s glory.

Jonathan has also taken the young Prince Erebus under his wing and has been given the title of 'Uncle Johnathan.' He is Erebus tutor, just like how he was with his father all those years ago and spends time teaching the young lad everything he needs to know about magic, alchemy and most importantly how to prepare for being the next ruler of Meridian. In truth however, underneath this prim and proper facade, lies a sadistic, unfeeling and wicked man. This can be seen on full display when he is down in his laboratory, working on his next experiment and often using live subjects to test out whatever insane theory or idea he has in his mind next.

Ludmoore also has no qualms about punishment. If any of the clan members do something wrong or have some kind of failure on their hands, he is more than happy to take the hand in punishing them both for his sick Amusement and to please Phobos even more. If it were at all possible, he would love to take out some of the 'weaker' members of the clan... But that would cause problems in the run up to his larger schemes...

And while he does have some care for Erebus, like always... It's only for Phobos. In fact, Johnathan knows the identity of the boys' mother but will never tell him. And furthermore, the alchemist's true views of the young lad are that he sees Erebus as nothing but a yellow-bellied soft touch who will never live up to his father's reputation.

WEAPONS AND ABILITIES:
While Johnathan prefers to stay off the battlefield, that doesn’t mean he isn’t armed. His greatest weapon isn’t any sword or spear, but his great intellect and vast knowledge of magic, alchemy and science. His great and terrible mind has conjured up some horrific creatures that have plagued the Guardians on numerous occasions, including Metal Lurdens, Super Mogriffs and the Changeling superweapon, Trifecta.

Ludmoore’s great mind is also why he is the Clan’s strategist. Like any good thinker, he is able to see the solutions to problems where to others there might be a roadblock. This in turn gives him a critical edge when he is out in the field, always trying to look for weakness or anything to exploit.

He’s also the creator of many powerful weapons to aid the Clan of Phobos in its dark deeds, like his own personal weapon, the Sceptre of Balor, but that’s not the only thing in his arsenal. He has other magical objects at his disposal, including the reforged Horn of Hypnos, the Chronos Sphere and the Book of Elements, of which he stole from Khandrakar. But always the creator, Jonathan, has been secretly creating a weapon so secretive and so dangerous that only Phobos knows about its development.
