Description (2000) Acrylic on canvas. SS United States, the fastest ocean liner in the world, is still in existence, but idling along the docks of Philadelphia, PA. This painting represents my hope of her restoration as passenger ship to ply the Atlantic once more.

Evidently, this painting was done before 9/11.

I never saw the twins completed, but I saw them under construction in the 1960's.

Let's see if we can make that a reality; SS United States Conservancy has bought the liner from Norweigan Cruise Lines LLC.

I certainly hope so. The idea of keeping her as an East Coast Queen Mary might be "good enough" but it's certainly not ideal.

I can imagine it was done before then. I don't know if she ever saw the original World Trade Center, but if she did, really I don't know what to say at that point.

Actually, I don't know either. I mean, she did come back to the US from Turkey after her interiors were removed, but I don't know if she's ever visited NYC since her retirement.
