Description
Nectocaris was a small cephalopod-like animal that lived in the Cambrian period! it didn't actually have compound eyes like this, and it wasn't a cephalopod, but this model isn't meant to be 100% paleo-accurate.

this guy was really easy to model, nectocaris has an overall simple body shape but it doesn't have any good references I could find online (until now, feel free to use this as a reference for your own nectocaris model)

the translucent shader was difficult to get right, it took me forever, but I got a result I'm happy with using a mix shader + Fresnel/color-ramp for the fac and mixing a subsurface scattering and transparent BSDF then tweaking that.

the lighting was easy, just a bunch of light points around areas I wanted to illuminate and boom.

enjoy! and feel free to suggest another animal to model, I'm obsessed with the Cambrian right now so I'm probably going to prioritize those.
