Description 'The earliest known reports were dismissed as superstitious nonsense. They spoke of attacks out in the borderlands by swarms of grotesque winged horrors with the faces of dead men. It wasn’t until weeks later, when the creatures began encroaching on rural settlements and slaughtering the locals, that the threat was taken seriously.'

This was another piece I did in a concepting jam using a D&D monster generator to come up with creature concepts. I rolled 'gargantuan incorporeal vermin swarm' and this was what I ended up designing. The basic idea was that these creatures were a sort of biological weapon of demonic origin, which laid eggs in people's brains. As the creatures developed they would fuse with the victim's skull and that would eventually become part of it's carapace. I also wanted to portray that it wasn't a perfect creation, with legs that don't quite look like they could support its weight and a mouth that looks like it would have trouble eating properly with.
