Many people say Series 2 is one of the best if not the best series of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends.

I love this season as much as the next guy. However, there are some things that could've been done to make it closer to perfect.

1. Remove the stories adapted from More About Thomas the Tank Engine

One of the criticisms Christopher Awdry gets is that his Railway Series stories pale in comparison to his pop's stories, and the only reason he even wrote the book was because almost none of the episodes planned for Series 2 feature Thomas as the main star. He never spoke too kindly about the book because of how fast he had written it to meet with a deadline. All the stories except Drip Tank were adapted.

So either have Christopher Awdry write Barry the Rescue Engine in the book's place, or the producers hold the stories back for a later series.

Adapt either Thomas and the Important Visitor or Unhappy Landing

If they really wanted to give Thomas more leading roles, maybe they could've adapted either or both of these stories simply to give Terence some screentime. They adapted Thomas and Trevor, which would be published a year later. Bertie's Chase featured Bertie as the main star, Percy and Harold and Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree had Harold in them. 'eck, Harold appeared in Percy's Promise. Speaking of which......

3. Adapt Percy's Promise, The Missing Coach, and Bulls Eyes regardless

Percy's Promise and The Missing Coach were candidates, but they were cancelled. The former was held back for Series 3, and the latter was cancelled for a hypocritical reason; Britt thought there was hardly any action, and that the concept of Donald and Douglas swapping their tenders would be too confusing for children. Daisy didn't have that much action, yet that was adapted! The Diseasel had Bill and Ben's nameplates removed to confuse Boco, yet she didn't think that would confuse children?

Bulls Eyes could've been a candidate for Series 2 since it was the 3rd story in Branch Line Engines, and it would've explained why Daisy was afraid of cows and bulls.

Hold back Percy Takes the Plunge and Woolly Bear for Series 3 and 4 respectively

One way Percy's Promise would've fit into Series 2 would've been to hold back Percy Takes the Plunge for Series 3 instead, as that story had Percy talking about the time he had braved bad weather to help Thomas.

Woolly Bear for Series 4 or anything post-Series 2 since the only connection this episode had with Ghost Train was the reference to Percy pretending to be a ghost, so this story is fine as a standalone story. One way Bulls Eyes could've fit into Series 2.

All of this since some people don't like the idea of having too many episodes in a row where Percy is the main star.

Maybe, just maybe, make Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree a special

Since some people say that Paint Pots and Queens would've worked better as part of Series 1, and the only way to make it fit in would've been to make Thomas' Christmas Party a special. The same could be said about this episode. Making Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree a special would've worked wonders.
