Here's a Thomas repost meme I made.

Feel free to repost this if you feel the stories in More About Thomas the Tank Engine should've been held off for a later series.

Here's a little history behind this book; Due to the success of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends' 1st series, the show was commissioned a 2nd series. But there was one problem the producers were facing; Almost none of the episodes planned for Series 2 had Thomas as the lead star. So they commissioned Christopher Awdry to write a new Railway Series book with Thomas as the main star of all four stories. Though Christopher never spoke too kindly about this book due to how fast he wrote it, not to mention how the term "Drip" fell out of use. They cut out the following stories;
Percy's Promise, Gordon Goes Foreign, Double Header, and The Missing Coach.

Percy's Promise and Double Header were held back for Series 3 with the latter being renamed Time for Trouble.

Gordon Goes Foreign was cancelled because it was deemed too expensive.

The Missing Coach was infamously cancelled because Britt thought the plot would be too confusing for children, yet she allowed The Diseasel to be adapted despite having a similar premise.

So here is how I would've made Series 2 closer to the perfect series;

-Remove the stories from MATTTE and push them back for a later series.

-Adapt either Thomas and the Important Visitor or Unhappy Landing as an extra Thomas-centric episode.

-Go ahead and adapt Percy's Promise, The Missing Coach, and add Bulls Eyes as a candidate.

-Hold back Percy Takes the Plunge for Series 3 instead to avoid having 5 episodes in a row that feature Percy as either the main or secondary star.

-Hold back Ghost Train and Woolly Bear for a later series, and maybe adapt Fire Engine and Crossed Lines.

-Or a possibility; Make Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree a standalone 10-20 minute special.
