Description

Among my thousands of would-be projects I have this idea of a series of panels, Osprey-style, showing the classic fantasy races in their early days. I think it will be interesting to show some scientific based evolution in their cultures.

For this one, I got inspired by Otzi the Iceman, and also the Japanese Jomon culture. The armor is of course based in a real specimen, the famous Chinese stone armor. I also researched a lot of early African cultures.

Well, this one came up a little sloppy, so I really hope I come back to the subject in the future for a better representation.

I really like this idea you have for a Neolithic culture for Dwarves. It's definitely not something you see every day and I was pleasantly surprised to find this~Β

Thanks a lot. It really means a lot to me. There is a comic book coming soon on the subject, created by Turner Mohan and me. Stay tuned.

Looks like Gavlan from DSII mixed with Jomon pottery. I love it!

I really like this unorthodox design for such a less cliched (Tolkien) dwarf, the helmet makes me think of the Gyrm from Dark Souls 2 if you aren't familiar with that series but were never really flashed out lore-wise: youtu.be/UL9jFesc8s4 Great job !

Haven't seen this before, looks really cool! And I agree, I'd love to see how Dwarven armor styles and technology evolved over time. One of the problems there is that Tolkien's world is at least to an extent seemingly locked in a technological standstill, where technology progresses mostly as the result of specific societies' or individuals' work, which then regresses again due to their death or destruction. There's an interesting dualism between a kind of Judao-Christian regression ("Fall") and more realistic historical progression.

Anyway, your mention of the Chinese stone armour made me think of Neolithic/Bronze Age Greek bone armor. Another possible material you might want to consider. There's also the famous Mycenean "Dendra" plate armor.

I'd love to see more from you! Β

Thanks a lot for the comment my friend.
I have been working on the subject a lot in the past years, and so is Turner Mohan.
Expect to see more from us soon.
Cheers!

Thanks friend! Something like this by your hand would be so great! You also put something primitive and savage Β into your designs that I love so much. Your dwarves have something very neandherthal to them, your art gets me very inspired! Looking forward to see more from you!
