Description
“Crowley better figure out that damn formula soon. I don’t know how much more of this I can take before I kill something.” Dean growled, walking into the room dressed in hot pink leather.
What happened to you?” Sam laughed.
“Take a guess.”
“Gabriel! Lucifer! Get down here!” Sam called.
A few seconds later Lucifer and Gabriel tumbled over top of each other into the living room. They stood and brushed themselves off before turning to face the brothers.
“Yes?” Gabriel yawned, “You interrupted naptime…”
“What happened to Dean or…who happened?” Sam chuckled.
“It’s not funny!”
“Both of us.” Lucifer began, “Now can we-”
“Luce?” (Name) asked tiredly, rubbing her eyes. She stumbled further into the room and took his hand, “Why’d you leave?”
“Go back to bed (Name). I’ll be up soon. Cuddle with Balthazar.” Lucifer cooed quietly.
“But Balty’s too hot. He shoved me away.”
“See what you interrupted. And you woke (Name) too.” Gabriel said, “Dean will be able to get the leather off…eventually. There’s a few layers and of course those pants are pretty tight. Can we go sleep again?”
“Go back to sleep.” Dean mumbled.
Gabriel turned and walked away. Lucifer followed him, holding (Name)’s hand but, also keeping her in front of him. She wobbled slightly with her tired steps but, Lucifer kept her from falling. Once they were back up in the attic Gabriel settle into his space with no hesitation. Lucifer, being the protective big brother he was, had (Name) lie down first before he joined her. Gabriel was already asleep next to Castiel when (Name) clung gently to her older brother, he wouldn’t push her away tonight.
Lucifer hummed slightly as he wrapped his small arms around her, falling asleep. Gabriel and Lucifer connected, creating a small barrier over the fledglings. Balthazar kept a hand on his sister’s back; he may not have wanted to be clung to but, he wanted to know she was still there, still safe. Most of the fledglings would sleep peacefully, dreaming of home or, candy or, certain humans.
(Name), however, twitched as vivid nightmares danced in her mind. These nightmares were real once, painful memories of her fledgling days. She could feel the searing pain of a freshly broken wing, even hear the sickening snap of bone. She could feel the endless, merciless pounding of Michael as he sinned, not only abusing her but, worse. The loss of trust in the eldest angel, the angel every other angel should trust.
She shot up, screaming, “Michael, no!”
There was a soft flutter of wings in the room and a smooth, “You called?”
“L-L-L-Lucifer! B-Balthazar!” (Name) shook in fear as she looked up at the visitor.
Everyone sat up drowsily, fully awakened by the sight of their oldest brother. Gabriel and Lucifer let their guards down by accident, allowing the barrier to diminish. Lucifer had a tight hold on (Name), wrapping her in his arms and sitting her in his lap.
“Why are you here, Michael?” He spat.
“I simply heard mention of my name uttered in a terrified cry and came to see the commotion.” A grin spread across his face, “I never expected to see my baby brothers as…well…babies. Who all is here? Let’s count the damage, shall we? Little Castiel, baby Gabriel, the twins Balthazar and (Name) and my favoritest wittle fwedgwing Lucifer.” Michael mocked, howling in laughter, “Poor, little fledglings.” He taunted, lifting Gabriel into his arms.
Gabriel squirmed, trying to get out of Michael’s hold, “Put me down! Sammy! Moose! Help!” Gabriel sniffled and started crying, loudly at that.
Lucifer gave (Name) the slightest of nudges, he started crying loudly too, (Name) followed his lead and began crying also. Balthazar took the hint and cried too, triggering Castiel who was legitimately upset. Sam and Dean came running up the stairs, bursting into the attic wielding a knife and a sawed off shotgun.
“Michael!?” Sam asked as Michael dropped Gabriel to the floor. He crawled back to the group of fledglings.
“Hi boys. What’s up?” He tried.
“Why are you here?” Dean demanded gruffly.
“Simply checking on my little brothers…and sister.”
“Bullshit.”
“(Name) yelled my name, I was curious so naturally, I came flying only to find them in Bobby Singer’s house of all houses and fledglings. I’m concerned for my siblings now.”
“They’re in good hands, leave.” Sam ordered sharply.
“I care about them.” Michael said, tugging (Name) from Lucifer’s arms. (Name) squirmed more than Gabriel and cried out louder. “And leave now? Abandon my ill little sister with the people who made her ill in the first place? I should be taking them to their rightful place. I should bring them back to heaven, raise them again, the correct way.”
“I think you’ve caused enough damage here. Set the girl down and then we’ll talk.” Dean growled, ready to shoot.
Now, I don’t think you want to do that while I have a darling fledgling in my arms. One I could easily use as a shield; she wouldn’t heal. Her Grace was barely big enough to heal her when she was fully grown.”
“Michael, just give (Name) to Lucifer and leave.” Sam said calmly.
“I don’t think I want to.”
“Then I’ll make you.” Dean shouted, dropping the gun and rushing the archangel.
Dean swiftly pulled (Name) from Michael’s arms, turning his back to protect her. Michael reacted quickly, reaching out to grab the fledgling back. Sam threw his knife, burying it to the hilt in Michael’s shoulder. He hissed in pain and, pulled the knife out of his flesh, letting it heal quickly. Dean gathered all the fledglings and used his body as a protective shield. Sam stood face to face with Michael, glaring at him. Michael snapped his fingers and smirked.
“Have fun without their grown consciences.” Michael said before leaving.
“What did he mean ‘without their gown consciences’?” Dean asked, getting up and setting the angels back in their spots.
“I don’t know. I guess we’ll find out after naptime.” Sam answered, scratching the back of his head.
“I guess. Let’s let them sleep.” Dean said and walked out of the attic, followed by Sam.
The fledglings slept peacefully but, there was a new development. Each one had their thumb stuck in their mouth, legs kicking slightly at their dreams. Michael had locked away part of each of their memories, starting new problems.
After naptime the fledglings came running down the stairs, (Name) and Castiel carried stuffed animals with them. Lucifer found Sam and Dean in the kitchen talking with Bobby.
“Sammy! Lift me up!” Lucifer demanded, holding his arms up.
Sam cautiously lifted Lucifer into his arms, settling him into his lap, before Gabriel crawled up on him too, “What’s gotten into you both?”
Castiel and (Name) had crawled into Dean’s lap, hugging him as much as they could. Balthazar tugged at Bobby’s pant leg before lifting his arms in a silent beg. Bobby lifted Balthazar into his lap and studied him.
“Balthazar, do you want whiskey?” Bobby asked, testing a theory.
“What’s whiskey? Can I have juice, Bobby? Please?” Balthazar responded.
“Okay boys, we have a problem.”
“Lucifer, what do you think of humans?” Sam asked cautiously.
“Humans? Are those the things Dad made? Are you a human? If you are then I love humans!” Lucifer giggled.
“Yeah, there’s a problem.” Dean concluded. “I don’t think there’s a big difference with these two.”
“Nah, (Name)’s definitely a lot more affectionate. She would not be on your lap if she was normal.”
“What was it that Michael said to you idjits last night before he flew the coop?” Bobby asked.
“’Have fun without their grown…consciences’….shit.” Sam sighed, “They really are just toddlers now, they don’t think like they used too.”
“Crowley better get that formula done soon.” Dean groaned.
