It's good to see a siren that is not just a mermaid with a good singing voice. Props to you~!

Siren? Oh I could swear this is more of a harpie than a siren!

Original sirens were birdlike, not fishy. There was a mixup that altered the myth. Which seems quite common with folklore.

Correct. Harpies were also considered more of jealous creatures, and refered to as "snatchers" not "ropers" like the sirens were. Harpies were also more hideous to a degree, while sirens were beautiful avian humanoid creatures.

Very nice concept! Shapes are very clean and perfect. Sweet pencil draw!
P.D. I think in mythology she's called "Arpia" not "Siren"

i love this! but isnt this more like a harpy/harpie ? i thought sirens were similar to mermaids that drown sailor men by seducing them?

HisLittleHoo In reply to hello1315 [2014-01-18 19:05:47 +0000 UTC]
Actually in original Greek mythology sirens are bird like creatures dubbed "the winged maidens of Hera". Mermaids were told to sing enchanting songs as well which is were the mix up began
