I think you're thinking of the Tas self-propelled gun. The actual tank was supposed to have the German long-barrelled 75mm KwK 42 L/70 gun. It is such a pity it never made it to the front. Of course, it would have made no difference, just some good photos!

I understand it was influenced more by the T-34 and the Panther. It was supposed to have a 75mm gun, but never happened...

No, it was planned to have the King Tiger's L/71 88mm gun, from what I heard. It was influenced by both german and soviet designs.

I forgot to mention that "Tas" (pronounced "TOsh") was one of the legendary "Seven Captains" who led the Hungarians into the Carpathian Basin in the Ninth Century.
