What kills me about art like this about this character is knowing that the show ended with her being gay. I don't think just because a female character is toned out and the heroine, means she HAS to be gay. Domineering females DO NOT have to equate to an embracing of female homosexuality.
Can't she be a heroine AND like guys?!? You know, like a normal person? Then art like this can fully appreciated. It always seemed like selling a lie. Or the producers were doing a, "Gotcha last!" on the way out the door as far as the show was concerned. You know?

Well she never said she swore off guys, so that's why it can be assumed she's bi. She's still good friends with her ex-boyfriend. And she doesn't really show any other romantic interest in any other character.
But what exactly is wrong with same-sex relationships (other than being incapable of producing children)? They're not exactly harming others. Rather, they just love.

BECAUSE THEY ARE DISEASED!!! THEY SPREAD HOMO-COOTIES!!!
...lol jsjk. The convo, from oh-so-long ago, was not about my beef with gays. I didn't care for the authors / writers making Korra gay, for the sake of either shock value or political subjugation. The show had been completed around the time everyone an their mothers in the entertainment industry were kowtowing to SJWs' B.S. agenda. The way they ended it was ill-timed and out of place.
I personally didn't even notice they were going for that type of ending until someone pointed it out to me.
Before all that, I argued that Korra needed to hold Asami's hand so Asami could gain entrance to the spirit world; nothing more. But others kept going on about a romantic involvement. Then a commenter posted a link, and sure enough in that link the director of the show admitted that the homosexual implication was just that and was supposed to be something more. Asami and Korra were supposed to kiss just before entering the spirit world, but Censorship Laws (for once, thank white-jesus) relegated the last scene to them holding hands.
But outside the show, I could care less about gays. Let them be them.

So the rant was just because you felt the show was trying to cater to SJW? But you mellowed out of it? I went through that too.
Yeah I didn't really notice the implications until the end either. I'm sometimes kinda dense on those things. I can't tell who the killer is despite the clues and foreshadowing in some movies.
But SJW did kinda ruin some comics. funnyjunk.com/Sjw+marvel/funny…

First off? Korra is CLEARLY bisexual (meaning she likes girls AND guys, in case you didn't know), or else she never would've gone out with Mako, and she DEFINITELY wouldn't have been so keen on kissing him.
Second? Fuck off with that "normal person" nonsense. All of the nonsense, really. There's gotta be a boat-load the size of an ocean liner full of "toned-out heroines" that prefer guys, and end up with guys. Kim Possible, right off the top of my head. What do you know? Took me seconds to think of that.
You're right on one thing, though. Korra didn't HAVE to be bi. The writers and showrunners WANTED her to be bi.
Because the writers are cool people.
Good day.

"First"....there was not one thing "clearly bisexual" about the character or the storyline. And YOUR supposition will NOT make it any truer no matter how much you want it that way.
"Second", don't push attitude on me because your life sucks for the choices YOU make. Again, no matter how much "your kind" shouts it from the roof tops, that kind of life is about the way you FEEL. And YOU control the way you feel, not nature. If that were so, then nature would provide you a way to make that feeling justified. It does not.
"Third" the writers are not "cool." They are opportunists of the worst degree for that weak, yet made, attempt at the very end of the series to imply Korra has switched jerseys. There is nothing "cool" about it. They only did it to appeal to the "fairyfolk" to sell more copies of the show.

Huh. I had forgotten I even made a comment here. Very well, let's go through this point-by-point, then.
First off... I would have loved to see Korra's bisexuality (and yes, it is bisexuality if she shows attraction to people of multiple genders) and her growing relationship with Asami getting more focus and build-up throughout the series. But the writers were doing a treacherous-enough balancing act with Korra revealed as bisexual AFTER the show ended. Anything more explicit than what we got probably wouldn't have (or did) made the cut. But yes, I can see why you would think it came out of nowhere.
Second... I'm divided here. Yes, I did give you attitude, and maybe some of it was unnecessary. I apologize for that. Maybe I was having a bad day, and seeing your homophobia made me snap a little. Again, I didn't remember even typing my original reply, so I don't know the circumstances behind it.
But let's go back to that "homophobia" bit, because even if I got pissed off at you... What did you expect? You commented on a picture of a popular bisexual character, about how you hate the fact she's bisexual. You should have thought about the possibility that someone would take offense. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but that also means that people can call you out for yours.
Now onto the main reason I'm replying. Look through my reply again. Look through it carefully, and then tell me where it is I mentioned or implied that I was gay or bisexual. Go on. I, for one, am pretty certain that I didn't. I, for one, am pretty certain that all I did was debate and pick apart the logic in your post. If it was implied that I SUPPORT people of different sexualities, and of them getting representation in popular media, then I'm guilty as charged. If they haven't actually hurt someone else, then why should I judge?
And of course nature doesn't "provide a way to make that feeling justified." Nature doesn't care. It doesn't give a shit whether or not people are happy in life. Nature just dictates how our brains are wired by default, and then just lets the rest of the world take it from there, like the indifferent prick it is. You don't choose what gender gets you horny, or not. I mean, why would anyone in their right mind choose to be gay, knowing the kind of segregation gay people face?
... Wow, the length of this is actually starting to bug this. I think you get my drift. Time to wrap this up.
Third, and final point: Even if the writers didn't make Korra bi out of the goodness of their hearts, and instead only to sell to a wider audience?
...... They're in a business. Businesses usually try to make money.
I know this is gonna be a pain to read, and you might not even do it. That's fine. You can go on living your life, and I'll live mine.
Have a good one.

It's a long way to go to say that I was right. But I get your drift. And you did not "deconstruct" my point of view. lol It sounds like you've sharpened up a bit since then, but that first "attempt" was....less than. lol
Anywho, you're right. I took your defense of the fairyfolk as an admission of guilt by association. BUT....if you stick SJW in there instead of the implied accusatory, then the notion still holds water. As to Why people would choose to be gay, I think it's about attention, and/or the lack of love (another form of attention) in their lives. I dunno.
Way to represent. I thought you were some chick at first. But there might be hope for you yet. You just need to hang around more guys; older more responsible guys. Mom's a great person dude, but she can't teach you how to be a man. Food for thought. Later tater!!

I'll be the first to admit I'm not normally a big fan of sexified pin-ups like this but this feels so true to Korra as a character. Like she'd be uncomfortable but just DARING anyone to make her feel embarrassed.
Well done.

What happened to her? She basically disappeared from the world for two and a half to three years. I have not seen anything like this since Neil Peart left Rush on a roughly two year motorcycle journey to psychologically recover from his daughter and wife dying. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_Ri…
