THE VISITORacrylic on masonite, 24"x28", 1994
I retook this picture with my digital SLR for better resolution and true to the original color.
I deleted the previous entry.
It's a double self-portrait, me as a small child and middle aged.

I like the connection you made between your child self and your aged self with the shadow, like that is who the child slowly grew to be as the shadow gets bigger.
I don't exactly get a negative feeling from the woman there but my guess is that that particular woman had some kind of illness or something...? And that memory is being suppressed?
Your child self looks at her with a smile, though..

I love the variety of texture in this painting!!! But it is quite sad!! is it possible memories have become suppressed in some way due to a loss of a loved one...you dont have to answer, it was more rhetorical on my thoughts on it!!
