Description More experimentation with digital painting. This is really fun!

Here we see Joan, the governess from my NaNoWriMo novel this year.

There are no children at Nevermore House, but there is a governess. Joan is a very proper, nervous, slightly insecure girl at the begining of the novel, and doesn't really know where she's supposed to fit into the household, since she doesn't really have a job to do...

...Until the day that the house is invaded by hundreds of grubby children who are on their way to The Great Convocation of Street Urchins...

Thank you! I'd really love to complete this story properly one of these days.

Having done NaNo myself, I know what the struggle was all about. -_-

Yes indeed. I've gotten my word count every year so far, but the stories themselves are not really finished at the end of the month...

Verra nice. My one suggestion: The yellow wrap is stiff. If it's supposed to be swinging in the air then the side would be lifted farther up with a greater curve underneath. Alternatively, if its supposed to be laying flat against her, or pushed against her by the turning, the fabric needs to start hitting a vertical angle sooner. Hopefully that makes any sense? Try it in the mirror and you'll hopefully see what I mean. Not trying to be nitpicky, just trying to be helpful

Overall, love it.

Yeah, *sigh* I know what you mean. My fabric-drawing abilities seem to have gone way downhill over the past couple years. I'm about to invest in an expendable dollar store sketchbook so that I can work on things like that (cloth, anatomy, etc), because it's getting embarrassing! I'm glad you like the picture despite the stiffness of the wrap.

Honest it's not that big a deal. The easiest way to learn (or re-learn) draping is to copy Renaissance paintings (Da Vinci is especially helpful). Trying to do free style Art Nouveau can be helpful by getting your wrist into the right movements too.

After you spend a few afternoons copying those elaborate foldings you'll be back in the game. Or, at least, thats how it works for me

Now, back to work..

Yes, I used to fill pages up with drawings of hands, shoes, hair, etc. But I'm finding out that it's not like riding a bycicle, you really have to keep your art skills up! Oh well, a hard-learned lesson. Hopefully it won't take me long to get myself back up to snuff.

The shiny bits on the hair are what I think are the coolest. The folds are also cool, but that's because my ideas about folds are vague...

Ah, the hair. I'm still working on getting hair right. I was okay with hers though. Thanks!

I've heard hair is hard, so congrats on getting it this good! You're welcome, of course.

Wow, thanks! I think her face is a bit off, personally. But then, I'm the artist, so of course I'm not going to be satisfied.

One eye might be shaped a bit differently from the other, but that's really the only "flaw" that I can find. Still, you're right, you are the artist, and we artists are never satisfied with our work.
