Description On days when I get my writing done early I reward myself by painting something!

Here's my character Lost Lenore, from two NaNoWriMos ago. Technically she's also Edgar Alan Poe's character, I suppose...

NaNoWriMo always makes me think of my characters form other years, when really I should be completely focused on my current cast of characters!

Every time I see your paintings, it makes me want to paint something...but then I can't think of anything to paint!

I love your little "highlighted" details here, the small bits of color that really make the others pop out. Also, I like Lenore's dress (even though the only part we see of it is the collar. That is an epic collar).

Must fav!

Aww, thank you so much! There's no higher compliment for an artist than that!

Oh, her dress is still largely a mystery to me... I've tried to look up info on the fashions of the time and place she should be from, but it's still something I'm working on pinning down.

There's only one thing I don't like about this pic. Her eyes

It feels like they're not alive enough > >

Baw, red noses.

Lenore... wasn't she based on Poe's 13 year old wife?

Something like that, it was a messy situation. My Lenore is older, obviously.

*sigh* Why! Why must you be able to use watercolours to such great effect!? I love the way you do hair. And Lenore's hair is the same colour as mine which is awesome.

I love "The Raven". Last year in art class, I based my design unit on that poem.

cool!
i remember reading that poem... it was kinda weird... but then again.... ^_^;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Artoveli In reply to DragonLord-Rhea [2009-11-17 03:51:41 +0000 UTC]

It was very weird, a little rambling, and somewhat laughable in parts... "'Surely' said I,
'Surely that is
Someone at my window lattice!
Let me see the
What thereat is!"

But of course you've still got to love it just for the great rhythm. And the phrase "Take thy beak from out my heart!" <--awesome.

But this interpretation of Lenore is actually from a novel I wrote two years ago, that had very little to do with the poem.

She's not gothic and dead like most interpretations, I guess.
