Description Here we have Kessie Hawk and Artifus (Arti for short), two characters from my current NaNo novel!

Artifus represents a breakthrough in artificial intelligence, as his inventor has managed to build a robot with a creative streak. This could move the field of AI ahead by leaps and bounds as it opens up possibilities for robots with problem-solving skills.

It also means that the little guy (or at least his AI chip) is highly coveted by rival inventors. Particularly Barnus, who is a big name in the robotics industry.

So it happens that, for reasons beyond their control, Kessie Hawk (the grand-daughter of the inventor) and Artifus are travelling un-escorted to the Worlds' Fair where he is to be unveiled, along with several examples of his artwork. But Barnus has sent his goons out to steal the robot's AI chip before they can reach their destination. The agents have already come dangerously close once, as evidenced by the chunk missing from the top of Arti's head. No lasting damage done yet though, and now the two of them have stowed away on board the Beauregard Gone, the ship belonging to my main characters.

I feel like that description could have been more coherent somehow... so I apologize. I'm in NaNo mode right now.

Keep trying! Β It's worth it to get to 50k, for the free print coupons if nothing else.

I'd love to read this when it's done! Or.... is it done already?

Welllll, it's not done, in that at the end of November the story wasn't over yet... So it's not ready to read, sorry. That being said, I'm not sure if/when it ever will be...

But thanks so much for finding the ideas interesting!

Oh, how could I not? They're amazing! I couldn't write a novel with a half-decent plot if my life depended on it, so I have this really great admiration for the stuff you've posted here.

Have you ever tried NaNoWriMo? You might be surprised at what you can pull out of your head!

Once, yes, but I barely finished with a "reduced" challenge, 5000 words, and it wasn't very good..... I might try again sometime, but I think I'd like to refine my writing skills quite a bit more before I do so. I really like writing! It's just that I have a hard time with carrying on a plotline(or making up a good one, at that), which is why I often roleplay a lot.

It's funny how much you learn just by pounding out the full 50,000 though. As in, the act of writing the words and pushing through the pain actually gets you to a certain level where plotting just starts to happen naturally. You should definitely try again some time!
