Description I know it is much different than my usual work, but I decided I need to experiment much more. The only way to improvement is to leave your safe-zone. The word experimentation is too wide to explain here, but it is not limited to technique, idea, medium... It means changing your way of approaching the image. I used to think: "ok, let's paint the fucking the best painting with the most awesome lighting". I closed myself with this ambition and I was forced to remind myself what other artists did to the artwork that it seemed appealing to me or copy some image in my head I noticed during a walk or sth. I was trying to recreate something that I caught into my mind. The idea wasn't developing very much itself, it wasn't experimentation, it was repeated process over and over again. You see my point? And it is not the way good art and style is created. Reply if I am wrong, I'd love to know your opinion!

OK, maybe I am too general right now, but it definetely happened too many times in my artistic path. Probably it is a matter of mood I'm in right now... I just feel I ignored so many artistic paths in chasing my heros!

And I'd love to thank all people who voted for my contest entry! I hope it will be taken into account by judges, but fuck that, what kind of pro contest is that if people vote?! The concept is absolutely allright, but in reality people spam all over facebook etc asking for votes.

Best for you guys, thank you for constant support!

IMO the thing with experimenting is that you have to stick to a technique you discover. Because only when you are really sure and routined at it it will look good in the end. But on the level you are, that might not be the problem ?!
Anyhow, I think, pioneering is the most amazing thing concerning all things in life. To to do new stuff and maybe revolutionize, that thought really thrills me.
Keep it up, I think your style sticks out ! I liked your fairytale like illustration, it had this raw look !

Amen to that! You simply verbalized very important thing in art - pushing forward (provided you know where to push). I haven't been drawing for 3 weeks now and I expected a fresh look at the whole art thing as a personal experience. I hoped that break would give me more clear idea of my style and preferences, but what I received instead are numerous options where to explore. Is succesful style a matter of level? I guess that's not the main ingredient. I feel it is a matter of your own personality, courage and consitence - following your own concept of what great art is. Your audience has magic power to experience your art through its sincerity and truthfullness to the artist mind. Sometimes it resonates with audience without any magic skills or technical levels. So where I am now is a choice what to pursue. It is not an easy choice living among many cool styles, themes and many of them are waiting to be discovered. Like I said, I took this break to find a simple answer, but I only assured myself that in art ACTION is what matters, not THEORY I love overthinking things but nothing pushes forward more than painting and creating

This piece is awesome! And I agree it is important to experiment every so often. It's a lot of fun to do so and it can lead to some very surprising and pleasant results. Good luck in the contest!

I think I know what you mean ^^ there are always more ways than one to make art, but forcing oneself can be very tedious and ungratifying.
