Second of my Divine Beast series: Vah Medoh! and Teba I love this Divine Beast. I love them all, really.It's a shame that the Rito portion of the game is way shorter than for example the Gerudo and Zora part.. I love how colorful the Rito village looks, and I'm in love with Teba's personality and design.
Anyway, this one took me way longer than expected. The Vah Ruta one took me 7 hours or so, but this one almost took 9 because I just wasn't happy with how it looked. And.. details. I decided to have the Rito village in it as well, to make it more interesting. But simultaneously, I also made the drawing more complex. The angle wasn't working well, because Vah Medoh is just so high up in the sky, but I think the angle came out alright in the end.
Again, the details on the divine beasts are not completely correct, but... you try and draw one of those giants, okay?
I imagined that this scene happens just after Link gains access to Vah Medoh, and after Teba lands after being hit by one of the lasers. You may notice that it's night here, while in the scene ingame it's not even evening. (All Divine Beast sequences/scenes seem to be at the exact same time. I guess otherwise they wouldn't have much control over rain and stuff.) I wanted to go with a starry sky, so... let's just say that Teba went back to the Flight Range first, but then figured he went to see the other villagers, just to make sure everyone is safe.

Dear sweet Hylia this is freaking gorgeous!!!! Man i fell in love with the Rito back in WW (though i might be biased because who wouldn't want to grow wings????) there was a bonus chapter in the OOT manga that stared them but i still need more!! I'm glad they brought them back~ but this is beautiful! the glow from lights and hints of aurora highlighting the rock/beast from above, the stars and texture to his feathers, Awesome!!

yep~ it was like a bonus story at the end of volume 2 though now that the master editions are out you can get both volumes in one book

Vah Medoh has the worst build-up and the least impact of the four. Vah Ruta has the best build-up, a great fight theme, and the best Champion (imao), and the biggest impact- possibly floooding Hyrule (again).
Vah Naboris a close second on build-up solely because of Master Kohga, though, aside from being able to destroy Gerudo Town, I'm not even sure what its impact was (besides making it impossible to explore the desert and get the Barbarian Armor until it's gone).
Even Vah Rudania had a cool build-up, even if its impact was literally just being a major inconvenience for everyone for a while before getting chased off.
But Vah Medoh? None of that, aside from great battle music. The build-up takes about a a few minutes, the Champion is an arrogant prick (though I still love him), and the impact is literally just keeping birb people from flying too high. This could have, and should have, been amazing.

I never thought about it that way, actually, but you're totally right about Vah Ruta having the most impact with the flooding thing. Vah Medoh only restricts the Rito from flying in that immediate area, but it's nothing compared to the devastation of a volcano or a flood.. I secretly hope they get more action in the winter DLC, but I don't want to get my hopes up too high..
And yes, Revali is such a douchebag, but... also an extremely lovable douchebag. I also absolutely love his English VA even though I only played through the game in Japanese. He seems like such a nice guy. I saw a video where he joined a BOTW twitch stream and congratulated the player on beating the game, he even recorded a voiceclip as Revali for her! That was so amazing.

I think the angle works perfectly and Teba looks as he's landing there right at this very moment. Great movement!
It again catches the feeling of the Divine Beast very well (urgh, I always have to be careful, they are called "Titanen" in German, which translate to "titans"...I bet I will write "titans" instead of Divined Beast one day...so just in case this happens, you be warned
I remember when the first gameplay footage was out and everyone was just like "there's something floating there in the sky...could it be Skyloft?" andΒ some weeks later when another footage was released, theorists already got on the "it must be a dungeon"-track.
And I was super hyped when I saw that floating thing in the sky...Even in the game
The only other beast that got me as hooked as Medoh was Rudania (I would love if you could draw him next, please ^^). I think it's because both of them were visible early on in the game. I did Naboris last and I have to admit, that he didn't have quite an impact on me (it was more like a "oh, I see, he's walking over there...guess I'll be walking over here for now...he kinda looks funny...oh, what's that over there *totally ignores Naboris and strives off in another direction*").
Orni village might be my favourite village in the game. The music is amazing and I like those small "houses" build around that huge piece of rock (which I was totally trying to climb, but I somehow couldn't get all the way up to the top. There was a nasty ledge Link kinda couldn't climb over 
I think the starry sky fits the scenery perfectly. The colors make it look even more impactful.

And I'm glad you noticed the movement, it was quite difficult to make this an interesting piece because Vah Medoh is actually just too far up in the sky to be the main focal point in an art work.. So I drew him bigger than my reference pictures. (I took SO MANY INGAME SCREENSHOTS, dear god.) So I figured a slightly curved, low, angle would give it something extra. And of course I had to include Teba! Taking a hit from one of those lasers after guiding Link - I'd feel bad if I didn't give him a spotlight here. He's definitely my second favorite Champion.
Titans, hm? Someone should make an Attack on Titan/Botw Divine Beast crossover! xD And I thought it would be some kind of Skyloft too! Or at least a part of it, like the Goddess Statue part that fell down to earth at the end of Skyward Sword..
Oh man I can't decide which one to draw next! I'm replaying on my second game file to get reference photo's.. And it's quite an adventure actually. I've decided to use the Pro HUD, and not to activate any towers (except the first one of course) and everything is just.. beautiful. I can't get over how beautiful this game is, and everything feels so intuitive and.. perfect! Anyway, so I'm playing on this second file, just running around, activating shrines to make warp points, running to all the Divine Beasts, take 398751 screenshots, then actually play until I gain access to said beast, take another 37859827 screenshots. run back to their respective champions, take 100 screenshots, and then rinse and repeat for the others. But, because I'm just running around, I only get stamina upgrades to make exploring faster. (Also I needed quite a lot of stamina upgrades to climb to the top of the Rito village for.. more reference photo's of course!) So I'm basically traversing Hyrule with only 3 hearts, and man it is FUN. I think I'm gonna sell all of my heart containers on my main file too, it just makes it so much more fun again.
Anyway, I'm rambling! What I wanted to say is, I don't have a lot of hearts, so I have to be careful when choosing which Divine Beast to do next. Vah Medoh was relatively easy to get to, but I feel Rudania might be quite troublesome with the Yunobo protecting sidequest thing while having only a couple of hearts.. But I'll see. Right now I made it up to the desert, but I'll have to get the Lightning Helm back first if I want to go for Naboris.. Hmm. But maaaybe I'll get back to Rudania first, because it seems there are quite a lot more fans for Rudania than Naboris. ;D

True, Medoh is great...From looks, Rudania is my fave, then Medoh and Ruta. However, puzzle-wise, I think Medoh and Rudania were pretty close up. I also like Naboris, but I had no idea what I was doing the whole time. I have no idea how I actually managed to solve the puzzles
I have to admit, that I like Teba, but he was pretty useless in the fight. Medoh was always aiming at me, what was Teba doing the whole time? 
True. I actually was wondering why no one has done something like that with the Divined Beasts (I have seen Link/Attack on Titan crossovers with Link and Majora's Mask, Link and the Moon, Link and the Imprisoned, and even Link and a Cucco), until I noticd they are not "Titans" in English
Oh noes XD I think I'm going to do that, too, once I'm finished with my university project (the next DLC might be out by then, too, so maybe I'm even playing in Hard Mode then).

I think the Yunobo sidequest is easier than the fight vs. Naboris. I didn't manager to stay in the save area when fighting Naboris. It was pretty hard, as my sand seal was always a bit faster or slower than Riju's.

No, Orni isn't a German word. I actually think it sounds more like an English word.
Fortunately, most of the Zelda-races are the same in English and German.
The only race I can think of right now - aside the Ritos - are the Koroks, which are called "Krogs" in German (I'm speaking a German dialect, where some letters aren't pronounced like they should, e.g. a "k" isn't "k", but more like a "g" - the same goes with "t" and "p" which become "d" and "b", so I usually say "Grog" instead of "Krog"...and a "Grog" is also an alcoholic beverage, thus, my boyfriend keeps laughing when I'm mumbling "I need to find a 'Grog'" and "Yay! I finally found a 'Grog'!" while playing

I'm with you there on Nabooris, I had no idea what I was doing either. o_o it just kept spinning and spinning and I couldnt find my way to the top! I have no clue if I did it right, but I eventually got to the top thanks to revali's gale, but it felt like cheating xD I love how there's no wrong way of doing things in this game.
and yeah Teba was sort of useless, wasn't he. 
Oooh right! I played the game in Dutch for fun for a little while (my mother tongue is Dutch) and then I noticed that they used the word Titanen there, too! I guess the German and Dutch localization teams have been combining forces hm. ;D

Oooh I feel you there, controlling the sand seals isn't my specialty either! But I guess the controls are realistic. But yes, I also outsped Riju's Patricia-chan all the time. Why couldnt she just lend the helmet to Link for a minute?!
Translation of names and other words are so interesting! Some people complain about how they change names from Japanese games to a completely different name in the west, but I think it's interesting because it also reflects things like culture, country taboo's and overall feeling for words! Krogs sounds funny to me, they remind me of those silly looking shoes we call Crocs (I think.) xD But I see where they're coming from: In Japanese they're called Korogu. And omg haha "I need to find a Grog". I love that!

Totally...and I also love Revali's Gale. It might be the most useful of them all (Mipha's Grace is useful, too, but mostly in the beginning when you only have a few hearts...but I rarely needed it later on.

As long as you are not in that Nabooris-quest, the seal controls don't bother me that much. I just wish your seal would stay with you. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but as soon as I get off the seal, it just swims away leaving me in the middle of nowhere and I will have to walk back
That's true, but I sometimes wish they wouldn't choose such ridiculous names/words.
E.g. in one episode of Pokemon, Ash and Misty are eating some rice balls and in the American dub it became a donut. They didn't even change the animation, thus, it was simply ridiculous! Check it out: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWgxH2β¦
Also, in Yu-Gi-Oh!, there are the three mighty Gods: Obelisk, Ra and Slifer... why Slifer? I never got that one... he's Osiris in the Japanese version, whichΒ makes much more sense

This is simply gorgeous! From the effects of the night sky to the feel of motion reflected in the stance of Teba and Vah Medoh itself, and the almost bio-luminescent feel of the palette, it really has a lot going on visually. I agree, the Rito kind of got the short end of the stick in BotW, and Revali was actually one of my favorites of the champions.
