~Personality~

Because he was also born in the same village as Sasha Brauss, Dauper Village, Tobias possesses the distinct local accent. However unlike Sasha, he doesn't bother to hide is accent and is not embarrassed. Like most people who were born in Dauper, Tobias possesses some level of natural hunting instincts and is a fast learner. Although Tobias also went through the struggle of finding food for the village with his father as a child, He does not have much of a gluttonous appetite (even though he does treasure and appreciate the food that he receives).

At 12 years of age he was taught basic techniques from a neighbor for a while, but then was left on his own to learn when the neighbor saw he was dependent enough. Tobias had to push himself to learn more new skills by himself in order to survive, by watching other hunters. He made it his goal to train and practice as much as he could everyday. This type of mindset was still with him as he grew, even when he joined the millitary. Even though he was shocked at how the Garrison were slacking off from their job, he still wanted to join the branch, but made a vow that he would use every spare time he could to train his physical combat skills. His reason was that he wanted to help bring up Garrison back to it's feet again, to defend and protect mankind. He grew to be very devotional and driven to his goals.
Tobias is the type who adores his family and treasures the friendship of his comrades. Although he has grown to be a humble and respectful young man, Tobias sometimes struggles mentally because his only major male role model in his life, his father, died when he was just a young child. His siblings relied on his mother and him to hunt for food and he would become downhearted when he returned with nothing. This relates to the fact that because Tobias is always trying to push himself to survive and support his family (To the point of almost overworking himself), he hated the fact of letting his family and comrades down, which he would then think of himself as a failure. After first meeting Millie, She helped to remind him that he wasn't the failure that he thinks he is.

Other than that, Tobias is also shown to refer to people by their surnames out of respect, until he's given permission or he considers them as good friends.

~Relationships~

Pietro Hirsch: Tobias's father, who was part of the Scout Regiment. He was killed by an abnormal titan when Tobias was only three years of age. Tobias was very young when his father died, so he didn't remember him much, however, people say that he is the spitting image of his father.

Lena Hirsch: Tobias's Mother, He adores his mother and respects her highly, caring for her. She is currently a widow.

Rhys Hirsch: Younger Brother. When Tobias left, a part of the hunting duties were passed down onto Rhys.

Maja Hirsch: The youngest child and the only sister in the family. She is the cheekiest among the family and constantly likes to poke playful fun at Alban

Alban Hirsch: Tobias's Grandfather. Helps the family with the hunting sometimes.

Sasha Brauss: Tobias became one of Sasha's good friends, both for the fact that they share similarities of instinct and hunting skills, and an obvious reason of originating from the same village. Despite being the crazy girl that Tobias thinks she is, he actually has learned a lot from Sasha over time, and is grateful to have her as a friend. She once tried to coax him into going together with herself and Connie to steal food from the pantry, but Tobias decided against it and just avoided Sasha's food stealing shenanigans.

Connie Springer: Tobias got to knew Connie through Sasha. Connie's outgoing and impetuous personality seems infectious, as Tobias holds respect to how Connie is able to easily express his opinions and say what's on his mind, as well as how he manages to stay an optimistic character through chaos. Even when Connie and Sasha graduated to Scout Regiment, Tobias still manages to keep in touch with their friendship.

Keith Shadis: He actually looks up to Keith Shadis like a father figure. It was revealed that Tobias's father was actually one of Keith's fellow Comrades friends before he stepped down as Commander. Keith did show some level of shock when he first saw Tobias, who he commented to look almost exactly like his father Pietro. Tobias shows Keith a great deal of respect, despite being intimidated by him at first. He later thought that Keith wasn't exactly a bad person that everyone thought he was.

Millie Solomon: A civilian girl that Tobias met while he was patrolling the streets with his group. He instantly became smitten with her upon seeing her, but had to hold back his emotions to not get too awkward. She would try to find her every time he went out. The two share the closest friendship the most. He completely adored her, to the point that sometimes when he was in stress or in a near death situation, the first thing that will come to his mind is Millie. She was a part of his fuel for his motivation and goal to protect mankind. The Fall of Shigansina (Year 845)

After the fall of Wall Maria, Tobias and his mother had to struggle from the food shortage in Dauper, to feed growing number of refugees that began to settle in the village. As much as some of the villagers were willing to give up their traditional lifestyle and grow crops instead, The Hirsch family resented the idea, but had no choice but to go through with the idea. it was around this time that Tobias developed the idea of being driven to protect and support his family, that he was wanting to contribute to protect mankind and take back the freedom that was stolen from them. He then later joined the military.

Battle Of Trost Arc (Year 850)

Not much was heard of Tobias here, other than he was assisting the evacuation of civilians at the time.
