Description

My old boy Bloom passed away last night.

He was a feral cat who lived here already when we moved in.
He was very standoffish and the previous homeowners said he was aggressive, but he warmed up to us with some time and became such a lovely sweet man.
His transformation of running at the sight of us to running towards us as soon as we'd go outside just to get some attention was something to see. He came such a long way.
All of the strays around here have.

It breaks my heart that I've lost all 3 of them in about the span of a year. Mr Bloom here was the last to go, and I'm going to miss them all terribly.
I'd used to sit on the porch every morning before work, and when they realized I was there they'd all just come out of the woods to lay next to me, it was such an honor that they trusted me so much.

Bloom always seemed very street smart for a cat, he'd cross the street when he was younger and I'd actually witness him look both ways before going, like he understood the concept of traffic in his little cat brain.
As he got a bit older, he thankfully stopped straying so far from the house, to eventually just lounging on the deck full time. Which was nice, because i'd always know he was safe and good there.
Last few nights his health began to rapidly decline, so I was allowed to bring him inside full time.
Old man was very content in a nice comfy box by my desk, and he'd purr each and every time I pet him even though he was obviously not feeling well.
I wish I could have made him an indoor cat sooner. All three of them.
It was always my intention to bring these 3 with me and convert them to indoor cats whenever I was able to move out, I am sad I never got to experience that with them.
They would have been lovely, I bet.

A little piece of my daily routine is gone now, and It hurts to not have them to care for anymore.
