Description
I had the pleasure of working on an earlier version of the Charizard fight scene from Detective Pikachu. It would have been more of a chase through the Ryme City underground culminating in a clash with Gyarados at the waterfront. I had a lot of fun populating the scenes with Pokemon. The Gengar in this image is MUCH less ugly than the final design in the movie.
Not to confuse that with the design being bad, I think the concept team did an incredible job running the rim of the uncanny valley.
But this is what I had imagined Gengar to look in a live action movie...
The final version looks MUCH more disturbed.
Again, not bad, just real freaky looking.
