Here is another in my 2009 redesigns of my main orginal characters. I havent colored a picture of this particular character since 2006, so it was a good time for an update. Ive had new designs for her for almost a year, but never got around to implementing them, so this was a long time coming. I really like how far her design has matured.Info:
Scarlet is not her real name, she gained this nickname due to the large amount of red she wears and her redish hair. She is the captain of her own pirate vessel, as well as an accomplished summoner. She descends from a community of gypsy-like sea fairers, and thusy has an abnormally high aptitude for summoning. She likes arvalis because he never shows any interest in her, this vexes her as she is used to men pining over her and her fair chest.

nice i have a story similar to this but alot of the major pointts have been changed. and none of my characters have backstoies anywhere near similar to yours.

your character reminds of one of my characters in my story I am writing about. She wears a lot of red and is a Russian sharpshooter named Crimson (sorry can't tell you the rest of her codename) her real name is Natasha and she is a very beautiful young woman for a 250yro (biological age 18) dhampir.

Nice shoes. Although they look uncomfortable, as though shes walking in some sort of dancer pose. All. The. Time. I also enjoy the sword, because it's a pretty interesting shape. Very nice drawing.

Swanky lady there. I like the hat. And the crumply-looking linen, and the coat/dress hybrid thing you've got going there. That's a cool one, and I haven't seen the likes of it before. She looks _badass_, personality-wise- lookit that smirk! Somebody knows what she's doing.
But those shoes look impossible. Dead impossible. xD *sweat*

I love the sword. Starting at the hilt it looks like a fencing sword or something more dignified. but as it goes out and then comes back it ends up more like a broad sword.

She's probably my favorite besides Javelin, though I'm pretty sure I'm biased towards both of them due to their professions.

Hmmm. Another female character who likes the male main protagonist, that has big boobs and looks like a crossover between cowgirl and pirate. I'm disapointed a little... that's just not very deep. I might would forgive you if you made a male character who falls for arvalis ... maybe...

I see the cowboy in this design. Also there is a lot more to her character, but theres no real point in divulging that information, just keep it simple for dA. Also Corrina doesnt like arvalis that way, its more a sibling relationship.

I have to ask, since I adore horses and I absolutely LOVE those boots she has on. I was wondering how she works in those. Do they support her so she always walks like she has invisible heels? Or can she move flat footed? Just curious. Love the pose and love the costume

There is a metal sole that extends from under the toe. It basically acts as high heels

I was wondering that myself! I want to know if the boots have some sort of invisible heel or if she's just on her tip-toes in this particular picture.

gotta agree with some people. Those are some very interesting shoes. What makes em better in my opinion is that with the proper materials and mathmatics, They would be possible. though i think they would give the wearer a "mech" like step. All springy and bouncy. Which is what i am quite sure She is going for.

There are four things I absolutely love about this character!
1-The shoes. From other comments, I'd say the masses agree on interesting the unique design is.
2-The sword! My gosh, I love that sword. 
3-The coat. I have to be honest, I am more conservative so the bare chest/tattoo on the leg showing I don't like. But, how the coat is designed is so cool. If only they made stuff like that in real life (aside from cosplay costumes)!
4-The hat. Cute, adds to the character's allure. I noticed that you can always see the fabric/clothing, where it starts, and how it connects. That's tough to pull off (at least I'd think so), and I like how you see the blue ribbon and then see it draping behind the hat, too.

She looks pretty and a nice use of colors.
Though, the only thing that I find rather corny is the color influence on the name. I think that idea on itself has been used a bit too often if you ask me (Red 13 from FF7 or Red from Dragon Quest 8 for example). This is really just my opinion though, so don't go too rough on me.
