Description

The late 15th Century gold yellow damask kirtle I wear under my Burgundian V-neck houppelande. This kirtle also doubles as (part of) an Italian Renaissance outfit, and as my Tolkienite Erendis cosplay (Why Erendis in 15th Century kirtles? I might be heavily inspired by some of @croclock ‘s gorgeous Erendis art   and now I see many Bëorian Númenóreans adopting this kind of fashion whoops xD).

And it looks/feels amazing! I'm sure you enjoy the dress a lot. Besides, you look so beautiful that way.
This yellow shade is unique, it has some Indian mood (am I right?).

Yes, it's become one of my favourite dresses, even if I haven't had the chance to wear it a lot yet   And yes, I love Indian dyes and fabrics, and the yellow ones are gorgeous ^^

Awesome fact; I hope you'll have the chance to wear it as you wish
Indeed they are. I Love them as well.

Lovely dress! I always picture Erendis wearing white, though.

Thanks I see her in white too, but also in other colours, such as gold yellow, royal blue, emerald green or burgundy (I'm also influenced by fanartists who draw her in non-white colours xD).

This kirtle was originally made for a Fem!Gryffindor cosplay, or simply as a historical project, but Jubah's artwork of Erendis (she's here on DevArt, I love her Tolkien fanarts so much <3) inspired me to see Erendis in 15th Century kirtles, so that was it, that's an Erendis dress for me now xD  Also, I try to wear white only when it's strictly necessary (Aredhel or Galadriel, I guess xD I'll try to make it more cream and ivory than white, though xD), because as a Warm Autumn white's really *not* my colour xD

Ah, I know the problem with the warm and cold colours ^^ I can only wear cold ones myself, which, sadly, rules out all ladies with warm shades of hair... I'd really love to do Eärwen one day, though. But yeah, if white is a tricky colour for you, it makes sense that you try to avoid it when possible. I haven't been wearing a lot of white for some time as my rather pale complexion will make me look pretty dead...

Oh yes, the way I imagine Eärwen she would be all in white and silver and cold blues (maybe also aqua tones, though, which are more in my alley, but yeah), so probably not a choice for me xDD (even though I'm an Elsa cosplayer, and Elsa includes all those shades, down to  the white-blond hair xD  But Elsa is probably a cold-hued exception in my cosplay list xD).  Looking forward to seeing your version when you do it !

That won't stop me from cosplaying Galadriel, though xDD, but I'll go for more warmer whitish hues, such as ivory tones, rather than pure white xD

I always imagine her in pale blues with silver, and lots of beads for all sea-dwellers (the Númenoreans, too). I'd most definitely go for blue over white, especially if the wig is silver, because I fear it might all be too pale otherwise. I would love to use this dress here, but I fear it would be very expensive...

By the way, I once tried to translate "Erendis" and came up with "Steel woman". Does that seem about right to you?

Oh, I've always loved the dresses in that site That one's gorgeous!

I also love Ekukanova's vision of Eärwen, I tend to see her in floaty, ocean-y stuff such as this, and with lots of pearls, of course xD:

That's right, I think ! Eren (steel)+dis (female, www.ambar-eldaron.com/thorsten… )

You know Tagtraumkleider? That was unexpected ^^

Beautiful, to be sure, but I could only wear a dress like that during Summer. Even if I wore  a cloak over it, I'd still be cold without sleeves in Winter...

I wasn't 100% sure because there are some roots that are very similar to each other and instances in which the spelling of a name is different VS the root and so on... But the only possible root I could find for Erendis was eren, so I figured it would have to be the right one ^^

It's actually one of the pages that turns up easily when you (re)search (for) 'Elven costumes', actually xD Have loved the dresses that site has since my High School years <3 xD Bit out of budget, though, yeah :S

That's true, now that you mention it ^^ Do you know Firefly Path? They have amazing stuff there, as well, and a dress that I would like to use for my Aredhel-cosplay.

I follow them here, yes!  Really skilled, but not quite my style in general, though, I think :S

Same here - I'm not a huge fan of corsets, I need straps, at the very least, to feel comfortable. I still love to drool all over their designs, though ^^

Yeah, same, that I'm not a fan of corsets is an understatement in my case xD Apart from that, I was also referring to the style in general, I'm more of a Tolkien-Elven and less of a Faerie-Elven and Fantasy-ball-gown-skirts kind of person, I think Some of their designs I quite like and would potentially wear, though And  I do admire the crafspersonship and skill that goes into all of their designs

I might get one of their Zelda-style dresses if I ever decided to do TP-Zelda (which is the only one whose hair colour would work with my complexion). Other than that, I agree with you.
