Description
Challened by the great phoenix, the black stallion puts forth his best effort in his race against the bird.Okay. Finished. The scanner picked up more pencil strokes than it should have, so it looks a little weird, but I still like it. I used one of my birds to model the wings of the bird for (I might as well put them to use!), but other than that no reference was used. There are two small horses in the bottom right corner, watching their leader's progress. Done with pastels and charcoal, plus lots of erasing.

Thank you! It takes a lot of practice to figure out horses and wings. I have a little cheat with wings, though. I have birds at home that I am able to watch and learn from.

Awwww! So cool! the only pet I can have are fish... I would have birds but the owner of my 3 floor house says no pets that make sounds or smell... boo hoo

That would stink. When I was apartment hunting, I specifically looked for places that allowed animals, since I already had birds and a dog (now two dogs). I couldn't go back to a place that doesn't allow animals.
