Description
Though her grandfather has long passed, Adah still feels the burden of his blood upon her head. Most of the time, she can keep herself busy enough to almost forget what she's done, but in the spring, when she is called by her faith to reflect upon and recognize her imperfections, she knows the guilt remains, and her uncertainty runs deep. She understands that murder is punishable by death - and yet, she is alive. But since her grandfather's death, her voice can't seem to find the Song, though she sings every letter, and her soul remains troubled by the One's silence. She bathes herself almost ritually in any living water she can find, never truly turning from nor repenting of her sin, yet still hoping that one day, she might cleanse herself enough for the One to accept her again.

This is set during or just after the Days of Atonement, and is a side of Adah I've been really excited to explore. Her culture reflects the culture of Aryn, as her birth pack stemmed from Old Aryn. However, she herself has strayed. She follows the old rituals - but her heart remains closed to true repentance, and her distance with the One remains a fear dimly, yet daily burning.
