I told you this before but I adore this. it feels crisp and lovely, it makes her look strong, harsh and cutting. Like a tool or someone who does whatever needs to be done. I adore it beyond words. Thank you, sweetie :*

i was gonna say it looks a little symbolic... then i read it's for a tarot set.Β see, that makes sense!Β cool!
you look more confident with your hands in this one; they look really good!Β and the cloth and tree background looks ambitious, too.Β (of course, i haven't been stopping by deviant art for a few months, so i might just be behind the times.)
on her right arm... the foreshortening on the forearm didn't work out too well.Β i think you need much more circular circles for her bracer.Β and maybe for the upper arm to overlap the edge of the bracer a bit.Β if you look at the reference, the upper arm overlaps in front of the forearm.Β your style is flatter than that by nature, but the circles could enhance the depth right there.

Thank you hun! No, I haven't been updating as much b/c life and all that.. but I've been practicing! :]
I see exactly what you mean about the arms. I was feeling like it wasn't working out so well, but I could not for the life of me figure out what it was <.< But I think you hit the nail on the head, so to speak, with the circles. B/c I didn't even think of that! Thank you so much for pointing that out to me :] It also taught me that I really need to practice foreshortening XD

i don't know if you've seen the tutorial/methods that break down the body into primitive shapes -- spheres, cylinders, boxes and the like.Β the limbs of course, get cylinders.Β if you practice (or just look at) like cans and bottles, and pay attention to the ends, you can see how the flat line from the side turns into an ellipse as you tilt it, and the ellipses become more circular until you're looking at it from the end, and they're full circles.
same deal with the limbs and stuff. : )

What Champ said about the treesβI love the way they're shaded, particularly against the swatches of cooler colours in the farther background. And as odd as it may sound, I love Kate's pants! The folds and shading are spectacular. So gorgeousβher hair, her expression, everything!Β

You say it takes you longer to do these, well it is so worth the wait (not that there is any, really). This looks different from what you've done so far, yet recognisably your work. So beautiful; I love her noble expression and her clothes and those swords...wow. Oddly though I can't get over the way you've coloured the trees. Gorgeous!

Beautiful! I love the soft pastel feel and her expression particularly.
