Do you really want to know the reason why some people on the fandom hates her?
Well, is because, unfortunately the majority of the fandom is too obsessed with Percy. And then, there is that chapter of the books where she kinds of compare Percy and Jason, and comments that at first, Percy doesn't look very impressive.
That's the reason. Is funny right? They hated Rachel because she had a crush on Percy, but now they hate Piper because she is not interested about him.

This is very close to how I picture Piper when reading the books. Like a young Lara Croft, slightly unsure of herself, not proud of her beauty or her heritage, and yet with her friends, she finds strength.
