In both of your automatically drawing the pectoral muscles are rather underdeveloped which is rather odd since they'd be responsible for pulling the wings down. In most animals capable of flight the muscles are rather thick to the point that it looks exaggerated, just take a gander at birds and bats.

When it comes to 6-limbed dragons I love the work Wayne Reynolds put into his dragon designs, especially since he was the loead on designing the dragons for D&D 3rd edition's appearances. He broke down the physiology of his dragons in the Dragconomicon which can be found shamelessly copied here: dragons.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_… including Reynold's artwork on the subject.

With that in mind, have you considered referencing felines for a 6-limbed dragon's musculature. they're fast predators capable of the sort of hit and run tactics that you mention in the comments and are really good at jumping, something that can easily be developed into a short distance take off maneuver. Seriously, house cats can jump more than five feet high from a standstill.

I actually really like the Smaug design--it's wonderfully expressive. I think it's a pretty awesome dragon by any measure, even if it isn't precisely as Tolkien drew it.

did you watch  desolation extras? he started out as a 6 limb dragon, then peej changed him into a wyvern. the rest of him is awesome sure. its just the wyvern part that bugs me when dragons in fantasy have their own taxonomy, draconic beings all have six limbs.

i have a question about the skeletal system of the hexapod dragon though, how would the wings fit into thee upper torso, like do they have their own shoulder blades or are they attached to the same shoulder blades as the legs with their own collar bones or what?

I think the smaller arms likely have their own shoulder blade, albeit a smaller, subordinate one. The range of motion necessary for the wings is much greater than that of the arms, which are mostly dedicated to holding/manipulating prey items.

Oh okay, and I expect the arms wouldn't need a collar bone like dogs because they don't really need their arms to go outward like the wings

Very nice!! Though the wings seem a little small compared to the rest of the beast.

Paper restrictions, unfortunately. But I was also thinking of the relatively short, blunt wings of a hawk--this type of dragon is not like they wyvern, which is a long range and accomplished flier. Instead, it flies in short bursts, in order to escape predators or attack prey.

Oh. I see now. Since it also has well developed legs it might be a pursuit land predator
