Description
The "twin" of the other picture, this is the promised Erik Version that inspired the poem. Again, poem is mine. If you can't read it, it says:What have you, upon reflection?
Power, presence, imperfection
The draw you have is quite unfair
I fear I’m drawn by your despair.
Bloodied hands and shadowed soul
Redemption is too high a goal.
You are a monster far too fair
It seems I’m drawn by your despair.
How could I love you—what draws me in?
To pursue a figure so maligned with sin?
Blood ignored, of shadow unaware
Alas, I’m drawn by your despair.
I watched redemption be denied.
I watched as dreams and faint hope died.
Your fate, I’ve seen, is a nightmare.
Forever I’m drawn by your despair.

When I read it I literally thought it was more from the Ken Hill version or something... I love it. It reflects the incredible fascination many people (including myself) have for the Phantom character.

I think the attraction of villains is that they are inherently flawed and flaws are simply endlessly interesting. Also, in regards to villains such as the Opera Ghost here and Jerith: they are both sympathetic villains, who, while remaining the bad guys in the story, aren't 100% evil, which allows us to connect to them.
And then of course, there's the simple fact than in most cases, the villains are simply more fun than their respective heroes.
Case in point: I find Raul to be incredibly dull while I find the Phantom to be incredibly awesome.
Ps. I apologize for my ramblings, I'm currently studying characterization in my Narrative Writing class...

I absolutely love this poem. I saw this drawing's twin and I completely disagree when you say you are unable to express yourself through poetry. It is beautiful and extremely expressive and full of emotion. I love the dark nature of this drawing in connection with the background that reminds me of a setting sun. Definite

This is very nice. It has proper poem format,like using quatrains. It's so deep....emotional.....and describes Erik very well. The background is another thing that attracted me to this. Once again,very nice. ^^
