I'm usually a fire starter as well with the exception of Totodile and possibly Snivy whenever I choose to get BW.

I love fire starters the best as well, though for some reason I usually choose water types!XD

is it because the water types are usually easier to use in the beginning? (fire types take a bit more effort in the beginning... but afterwards they can blow anything away!)

Actually I usually find the grass types are easiest to start off with mainly with bulbasaur in red and blue. You first have Brock, Misty, Lt. Surge and then Erika which all in Bulbasaur's favour.

i'm currently running a Nuzlocke on my LeafGreen and my level 15 Charmander was able to beat Brock (though i did lose two pokemon against Onix before i decided to just stick it out with Charmer, my Butterfree and Mankey both didn't even have a chance to attack before rock tomb got them both 
honestly, the only gym leader that has ever given me issues is Misty... which is why Charmer (who i refuse to evolve until he's learned flamethrower) will not be a part of that gym challenge. After Misty it's smooth sailing.

Pokemon... They get uglier and uglier as generation passes o.O But somehow on your drawing the 3rd, 4th and 5th gen pokemon look adorable ^^- It's just sad that they can't make pokemon like bulbasaur anymore. I wonder what happened.
