This is really fun with the hatching and cross hatching. Nice way to build up the figure with differing values. I am intrigued by the central structure. The only thing I would do different would be to move that structure out of the middle.

Composition is hard to teach. We learn from such a young age to put things in the middle. When you move things around on the picture plane you can create a dynamic and unique tension that lifts a "moderate" image to extraordinary. The artist has to figure out how to make the rest of the composition work after you move your subject out of the center square. It presents a lot of problems which when solved create a much stronger artwork.
