What's the request? Haven't been doing much the last few weeks (health issues), but can at least consider it.

Do you just want an exact copy of that in another projection? Or something else?

if you can do that continent in qbam

I'll have to pass on this one. I don't feel confident about reprojecting an undefined map projection to another projection.

Ashtagon, you do know that France's primary subdivisions have drastically changed, right?Β

I know. Lots of stuff regarding internal borders is anachronistic on this map, I suspect. This map is intended to focus on giving the names of small islands.

Ah. Yeah, I've also never understood why Iceland is divided up into three in QBAMs. Iceland has never had three subdivisions, but somewhere around 26 I suspect.Β

So you got me curious about Iceland.
The three-way division appears to be based on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitu⦠(established 2003). There are 6 constituencies, but three of these are urban centres and barely visible on the worlda; the qbam divisions were most likely copied from such a worlda map. These divisions are purely for national assembly elections, however, and are not administrative divisions as such.
Iceland has 8 regions, which until 2003 were also used for national elections. These days, their use is mainly for statistical analysis, similar to how the UK uses the NUTS1 divisions.
Under the regions are 74 municipalities. These are in practice the actual top-level administrative division, although they are nominally grouped under the regions.
Historically, Iceland had 46 top-level divisions in the form of counties (sΓ½slur) and county-level towns (kaupstaΓ°ir). Before that, it was divided into four farthings.
tl;dr version: The modern top-level division should have 74 municpalities.

I have noticed that there are very few, if any (as I haven't seen one yet), QBAMs that contain Peter I Island. My CWM-7 will rectify that problem, but I just find it odd that it has been routinely neglected.Β

That may be due to the small size, and the proof I made that qbam is inaccurate anyway.
It barely shows on my k7c scale map (which is drawn at a slightly larger scale than qbam). I'm pretty much on the verge of abandoning qbam. I will probably do so once I've figured out a way to draw in the rivers, minor islands not quite rendered from my data source, and national borders).

excellent map, do you happen to have one without territorial watersΒ shown
π: 0 β©: 1
Ashtagon In reply to xyz-dbz [2016-07-13 19:23:47 +0000 UTC]
Those aren't territorial waters. They are simply boxes intended to group together separate islands under a single label. The intent of this map is to label most of the smaller islands that are visible on a map of this scale.
The boxes are NOT indicative of any kind of maritime territorial claim.
