Description
1.) “Bis sis..you’ve got to help me, you’ve helped animals going through labor before, what’s wrong with Hugs??”2.) Fluttershy took care of Treehugger through most of her pregnancy, because she would have very intense morning sickness, cramps, and wouldn’t exactly keep hydrated or have the necessary nutrition and minerals. It didn’t help that she was completely reliant on her healing crystals and herbs and would refuse all medical help, except Fluttershy of course. With only a few months left before the expected arrival, however, Hugs disappears without warning to retreat on her personal journey, which drives her friend and Zephyr insane with worry. When she does return to Zephyr, she is in critical condition from malnutrition and labor pains, but she still desires to have a foal without medical assistance. She passes out from the pain and weak state of body, and Zephyr carries her to Fluttershy’s immediately, where Flutters helps Hugs through the painful and arduous delivery. Sadly despite Fluttershy’s best efforts and nursing, Hugs is unable to recuperate from the delivery and she passes away soon afterwards in the company of her best friend and her love...
3.) “It’s all my fault… if I didn’t push having a foal and raising a family, she’d still be with me right now. I lost her, and it’s all my fault.”

even tho this is sad, I must say, your art for this piece is particularly good. You did a fantastic job making it simple but impactful at the same time. Especially that last scene. So many feelssssss

People are gonna have a lot of different opinions on what I'm saying, but my opinion is that:
Treehugger's actions ultimately led to her own grave, yes, but! You're right that it was unintentional. It's even more tragic because this is all she knew, this is what her "parents" taught her and those kind of things you learn in your childhood you really have a hard time letting go off. Especially in emotionally stressful and painful times like this. She should have been less stubborn and gone to see a medical professional. Fluttershy or Zephyr should have dragged her there, to save her life at least, even if they respected her view. People can make these bold statements and argue about these kind of things back and forth, but in the end, people always do what they want or know. As for me, I don't really "blame" Treehugger for what she did because it was her emotional and mental need to go on her personal journey of self-discovery. I also don't blame Zephyr because he's prolly the most bewildered and lost in the situation. Fluttershy thought she could save Tree, but unfortunately in her state, it wasn't possible even for a doctor. No one is really to blame in these situations, it is what it is. But if anything, I hope I could bring across that sometimes.. these kind of things happen. and you move on. You don't blame yourself, and you don't blame others for what happened.

Not to be a jerk, but it's a little harder to be sad when Tree Hugger's own bad choices lead to her death. Was she brainwashed by strict parents or something like that?

No, she didnt have any parents; my HC on Treehigger is that she was adopted into a commune and raised by multiple "parents." Therefore she has a very loose understanding of the concepts of family and parenthood, and she knows next to nothing about medical-related things. Because of her ignorance, shes terrified of doctors and hospitals. Also, people tend to only know what they grow up with. All she knows is what was taught to her by her many parental figures, who sadly weren't very good influences when it came to anything related to pregnancy or seeing medical professionals
