eppuku, (Sape-puu-kuu) the Japanese formal language term for ritual suicide (Hara-kiri (Har-rah-kee-ree)is the common language term.), was an intregal aspect of feudal Japan (1192-1868).
It developed as an intregal part of the code of bushido and the discipline of the samurai warrior class.

Seppuku is usually done with a dagger rather than a sword, however, they will often allow someone to use a sword to cut off their head. You should add that it was often done to warriors who felt shame in order to remain honorable. They slice their stomache to release the spirit-very painful 
However, this is a great photo, very nice contrast, I like the bit of overcontrast to get all the whites. It really brings out the tattoos and the swords.

Hmm.. like this one, very cool idea. I like the effect in the black and white, much stronger emotion from it than had it been in colour.
