Description

Ta-Da! A crossover between Batman and Silverwing.

I required some tracing reference to get this done in the best way possible. For example I used an undamaged version of Mercury's ears because those ears (both Batmans and Mercury’s) were narrow. I used a modified version Bathshebas snout to make his look bulkier yet in the style of the show. I used a stance that Shade was using in one of the last episodes. After tracing over those I shaded in the wings the way I remember Batmans cape in Batman the animated series. Then I looked at Batmans proportions (This is where the hard part comes in). I had to modify his height, and build (Poor Shade would not make a strong Batbat). At least I only had to do this for the legs and dreadfully the torso. The torso was hard. I had to get a good look at Batmans torso to find the right shape for Batbats torso. That made the shaping a lot easier. Then the symbol on the chest was easy. Boots? Check! And as for the bands. You don’t even need to ask about the bands and why I made them look the way they look.

And for the logo I used a trace over of the actual logo from Batman the animated series. I then added traded that title for the Batbat title. Then I modified the ears to look like Mercury’s. The last change I made on this logo was make the thumb look like one it would in the silvering show.

What inspired me to do this was the fact that the bats in Silverwing look like they’re wearing batman costumes. I put very little time in the entire thing, but I’m still super proud of it.

It would be cool to see Batfink en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batfink drawn in the silverwing style.

I know!!!
This was so easy to make and It's worked out for me. I might actually make one of Goth as the Joker really soon.

PS: I accidentally put that comment on top when I meant to reply to you. Clumsy clumsy me.

When I first saw the Silverwing TV show, The characters looked like they were wearing Batman costumes. That was the first thing that came to mind.
It was amazing.
It made me love the show so much more.

Well that's what it looked like a bit to me when I saw some art for it at first but now seeing it for so long you adjust and find them more bat like.
I loved it for a different reason but I (like many MANY others) just wish they made the sequel books into movies as well!

Don't we all?
I mean most cinematic remakes of books leave people dropping their jaws and glaring in disappointment. But with Silverwing, they pretty darn nailed it. I was so pumped for more.

I've heard rumors of a somewhat likely Silverwing remake geared more towards young kids which I think is a horrible idea. Silverwing was that one series that left you feeling unclean from its violence in the other books. If Sunwing was made it would definitely be R rated most likely.

Not if they avoid the shots that would involve blood and remove blood from the shots anyway. That's what they did already. So making it a kids show wasn't that bad of an idea.
I didn't see any blood in Batman the animated series either. Today they have more stuff rated "R" for batman than we did back in the seventies. And the Jokers sense of humour is one of the very few (although dull) from these days. Back in the old days he was a lot less creepy (especially the voice) and there was no fowl language nor blood to spew at. Plus he made a lot more catchy jokes back then ("Why so serious" doesn't count in that case).
We seem to be laughing less at the media that gets launched nowadays despite how advanced the graphics have gotten.
Don't you miss the old stuff?

I would rather have them leave it in, the way Oppel made it then tweak it for a PG so the company can make more money. Sunwing and Firewing definitely could use an R to make the story more powerful. Silverwing had few gorey moments in the book so it made sense to trim it but Sunwing was so powerful because it had so much in it. (I read it at age 11 and it gave me nightmares. XD) to take that out of the movie would be a dumb move in my opinion. And pretty much every other Sillverwing fan I know wants violent sequels.

And about old movies, YES I miss the old ways! especially practical effects done in front of the camera instead of cheap lazy CGI.

That does make sense. A little PG tweak WOULD both reduce and expand the audience. Although expand it more than reduce because when the younger audience grows older then they are added right back a matter of short time. It's genius.

Well what they should do is have a PG-13 version for TV and theatres and have a gorey book accurate version for DVD.

If that's the case, then there's definitely a warning label in order. Thank the law that's automatic. (I hate thanking the law. It doesn't allow me to climb and hop rooftop to rooftop like a maniac who's obsessed with taking shortcuts. I wonder where I'd go first if that's all I wanted. An asylum, or a jail.)
I think that's a genius idea. Making two versions starting with the kid version, then previewing an accurate version. I like that idea.
Being a writer, I will keep this idea in mind as I also keep in mind to read the whole contract for any catches or traps before signing it.

Thanks!

Its what I would do. Make two versions for two age groups, thus tripling the profit. One version for kids, the other for teens and adults.

Well you're welcome!

Hey hey, cool! Sorry for not replying to your comment on my profile, I had to think for a bit of what version of Batman to draw. I was thinking of drawing him in his Arkham Knight variation, with the high tech helmet.

The Arkham Knight variation? That would be kind of hard to compare and mix with Silverwing. But we Deviants always find a way around. Anyway. It's your choice.
This is actually one of the quickest, easiest, and most effective Deviations I've ever submitted since How Link would treat Sparx.
