Description So yea, this was kinda a playing around piece. Trying out this kind of scene again. Ended up skipping a lot of details, not spending too much time in it. More focused on the face, which changed several time hehe.

Wasn't too sure about the shading either or the anatomy and the pose and all of the other aspects. I guess I could call it practice?

Anyhow, it was all fuelled by Applejack, because well... I needed more Applejack in my gallery and still do. So here we go!

es aterrador amente realista, las costillas se le van al igual que los músculos en el pecho, las piernas y el resto del cuerpo.

primera vez que veo que le dibujan ombligo. magnifico pero este dibujo me da miedo.

This is nice~, I like how you've done this eeyeah~ her skin is a little odd... though nowit makes me think ponies are covered in peach fuzz. . .

however, I want to draw attention to her eyes see the her left eye, that area on the inside near her muzzle, It makes her look like she actually has an eye socket,  this is excellent and gives it an uncanny feel~

. . .

I like uncanny~<3

I love your art, your coloring really has shadows, and detail. If i could draw like this, i would use it for drawing everything i could think of.

It'd look better a little less human. The human features make AJ's neck look really awkward, and the torso looks WAY too human, it kinda feels anorexic, particularly the rib area. I'm also not too sure you need the middle "leg" things either, they make the shins look more like huge socks hanging off of absolutely tiny shins where the middle legs are.
But on a positive note, the head, arms and mane look AMAZING!

Good job but have far-spread flaw of realistic-like pony trials - looks a bit like area51's alien, not like pony. First suggestion - use cat's anatomy for shoulders and front legs. Cat is correct four-legged animal, but are very flexible and can do all movements, what ponies needed and we see in cartoon.
And head. Most difficult detail for turn to reality without loosing cartoon's appearance. Im' not meet heretofore any really good realistic pony face.

I really like this drawing! The only issue I have is that pony legs don't work that way. It kinda looks like her legs are broken. Aside from that, I love the shading and the way you did her mane!

I was watching the livestream. Her side looks more wrinkly than it did when I stopped watching. Are those her ribs? Is she sick?

I wish you kept the ponkeyshadow.

Also, this is the best pony face you've done, ever. The most showlike yet also the most realistic. Wonderful job. Also, that hair is no less gorgeous.

Mildly creepy... and I can't make out if this is supposed to be anthro or not. The background is very nice though, along with the hair.

You are a great artist with shading, technique and stuff, but she looks like a zombie pony and I'm pretty sure this is not how pony legs work. Not to mention shoulders, chest, skull etc.
[pony leg anatomy]  (notice the non-banana shape of instep and foot )

No offense, anatomy is one thing and drawing, which you've mastered, is the other. It's just the way it seems to me.

AssasinMonkey In reply to Gromf007 [2014-06-05 23:45:55 +0000 UTC]

This is not an exact representation of pony legs. Though the way they bend (at leas the rear legs) is close to how a real horse can bend. Although I bend it more from the knee, putting the 2 legs close together, which is a bit of a stretch for horses but not for humans.
or cats, since MLP limbs sometimes seem more along the line of cats than horses, specifically the front legs/arms as real horses can't exactly twist them and face hoof. for example.

It's also probably because I went more with what I had in my mind for myself, the blend of anthro, the amount of human and the amount of animal, which is a big gray area.

PS: If you're interested in a fairly good skeleton anatomy sketch, I'd recommend checking this one out:

Yeah, that makes much more sense. But if you look on that luna's femur, it's about the half size of your Applejack's (her knee is where the ankle should be), that's what is probably causing that weird banana shape appearance of her legs. As an anthro it's a great job

She looks a little skinny and the legs are a little too long, but since this is kind of a doodle, who cares?

The Uncanny Valley is strong in this one....it's technically brilliant, and I can't think of anything wrong with it, but there's something unnerving about it, the fact that it's a realistic looking version of the cartoon Applejack in every aspect. However, you know better than I I'm sure that making something in the Uncanny Valley is an art form in and of itself, so bravo!

AssasinMonkey In reply to DAPLR [2014-06-05 23:39:18 +0000 UTC]

Hehe yea, it's a place I've been to a lot myself, at least as it seems by a track record of reactions on some pieces. Those intended and those not necessarily but understandable.

I find it personally really interesting to explore it and just try things out (because I guess, why not?! )
In a way it also keeps things new for me, seeking the different amounts of mixes and such one can make when anthropomorphizing

some of the aspects he uses I've actually explored myself as well, so I might end up continuing along that path

Hehe yea, I didn't exactly take the time to add some fur brushwork into it. I though about it at some point but ended up forgetting/skipping.
Next time, because then I could compare the difference I guess hehe (totally making excuses here)

I usually really like your art, but this one has some really weird looking legs. I don't think they bend this way.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AssasinMonkey In reply to Lomeo [2014-06-05 23:36:44 +0000 UTC]

Although I stretched the imagination of how much they can bend, it's actually still accurate to how they bend. MLP's limbs bend a lot more than horses can do already (front legs/arms bend more like Felines than Equines) and this is more of a mix of slight human and horse.
The proportions/lengths are also just what I had in mind for it myself.

I'd say for pony anatomy, this reference here can be a good one to look at :
