"Now rest"
Not often do I do these off-stream, and in the extent of actually finishing it.
Wanted to play around with my switch to the Mixer Brush as my main tool (still round brush as base shape for it, tho)
And I have a new monitor, to fill in for the one that broke on me couple months ago. Main thing with this new monitor is I really have to get used to the different more intense brightness levels. I need to pay attention to the numbers Photoshop give me for brightness level, instead of going by feeling. My old primary (now secondary) monitor is way less intense even on highest brightness. It creates a bit of an issue when looking up images with my second monitor.
Anyhow, as for the mixer brush, I'm liking it. It has some sacrifices, but I can always just switch back to the standard easily for those moments. For shading however it's great.
This last week I've been trying to see where I stood on colour usage, and I was really struggling getting the variety and intricate presence of multiple colours I would see in old master paintings. But this mixer brush creates colours properly by mixing the colours I add. (Much like real paint can be mixed)
It's a switch I've actually been wanting to do for years, but I never got to it. Ya know, old habits dying hard and all that. But the transition isn't as jarring, in part because a lot of my experience still applies, and this allows me to learn further more easily.
Anyhow, I will always have a weakspot for making my own stuff mixed with classical painting style, whether inspired by the old masters or contemporary ones. Altho this style definitely can definitely hold details easily worth 5 times the hours I put into this. But I didn't want to invest THAT much more into it (besides knowing its flaws I'd have to fix)
Oh hey, fabric, tho.
Painting folds from imagination is never easy, it's interesting but yea now, best to look up stuff for hints on the infinitely complex combinations it can have. (let alone different materials acting different)
Approx Time: 8-9 hours
