Reading the article, I can't say I'm especially surprised. Just look at how informally Sans usually speaks in English (especially compared to Papyrus). using words like 'dunno' in place of 'don't know'; leaving the 'g' off 'ing' verbs (doin' instead of doing, etc.); referring to the player by informal, usually affectionate names like 'buddy', and 'kiddo'... the list kinda goes on and on. It seems like most people tend to headcanon Sans with, like, a New York or Bostonian kind of accent, but I feel like Sans having a bit of a rural accent or even a Southern drawl isn't out of the realm of possibility either.

I think a lot of peeps thought he'd be Ore because it's masculine, and sans has a deep voice (only by the text sounds he makes in game)
but having a deep voice doesnt particularly mean you're masculine..... and sans really is not masculine in any shape or form imo lmao
And Boku is more boyish........... if i had to choose between Ore and Boku, I'd go boku for sans. just because its more casual than ore
but back to Oira...... some people associate that pronoun with kids.......... so ive seen posts of theories where sans is like a teen//// i doubt that tho.

Plus, Undertale is so relaxed about gendered pronouns anyway, I feel like emphasis (or lack thereof) on masculine qualities in his pronouns is just something that probably doesn't really concern Sans. And even though they both use male pronouns, you have instances where Papyrus in particular is happy to experiment with unconventional gender roles - like in that one neutral run where he and Sans visit Toriel in the Ruins after her banishment and Papyrus boasts that he's 'going to be a great mom' - so they're clearly not so worried about emphasizing their masculinity.
I mean, I'm 24 and still refer to myself as a kid sometimes.
