Beautiful smooth anatomy.
Just a question: if you suddenly became inspired to draw a coyote and a golden jackal, how would you approach differentiating them? Some artists can't tell the difference between them.

That's an interesting question! I've never thought about drawing them in comparison to each other, but I might do that just to test my skills.

this reminds me of the professional concept art I saw for Brother Bear. Absolutely excellent.

How do you colour underneath the pencil sketch??
Did ya scan it and ?? wha?? D:
Also she looks female, I wouldn't mistake her for a male tbh. I love how she can make many recognizable expressions <3

Yep, I scan my drawing, clean them in PS, create a layer above and set it’s mode to Multiply. Then I do the colours in SAI.

She definitely looks female to me! The facial structure and proportions of the body both imply it quite well.

I've always seen her as a female, though I do get the confusion in some people. Its kinda difficult for me to tell the difference between male and female animals in real life, especially large canines, unless its something obvious (lions having manes and lionesses not having manes, men have flat chests while women have more pronounced breasts, their facial or body structures, etc) or when you have fictional canine characters that are anthropomorphisized in a way to show the difference (and I don't just mean the "walking on two legs wearing clothes" side, since everyone nowadays seems to think that's the only way an animal character can be "anthropomorphic"), like if they have more pronounced eyelashes or more female-looking hair on their heads for example. Though I don't tend to give my female characters super-'girly' eyelashes or human hair, since I'm not really a fan of that kind of style. Plus they already have hair (or fur) all over their bodies so there's no point in giving them more. And if I do give them lashes, I don't go over-the-top with 'em. XD

The high level of realism is a solid feature in all of these drawings. Her colors have a nice coherent unity to them, and the poses are all so lifelike and varied.

Thank you very much.
I’ve always wanted to merge realism and cartoon stylization in my drawings.

Love the colour combinations!
Always a big fan of natural colours on canines. And yeah, she definitely looks feminine!
