Villinas feel pain too, I gess. Such a seen can probably make you sympathyse with most any badguy (gal in this case of course). I just keep looking at it over and over again, trying to miss a detail: the feathers, the clothing, the shading. I think the thing I like the most, though it may sound strange, is her arm. She's seems to be barely holding on, but just wont let go. Nice, nice, purdy, purdy.

Excellent work. The shading is very subtle, but it works well. It almost looks like an etching or a woodcut. You rock.

Ghestal Shinkuu, another one of my creations.

I still have yet to see what he looks like as I've never made or requested a pic of him before.

And yes, he is VERY badass and evil.

Aww, poor Aster.;_; Oh man, but Alexander looks pretty beat-up too. Hope Razorwing doesn't see this, or Alexander will be looking much, much worse. Don't worry tho, I can keep a secret. As for the drawing itself, you did a great job. I only wish you made a background to finish it off. However, I'm really impressed by how you drew the hands carrying Aster's body to make it look like Alexander is really carrying something with softness and weight. Finally, Aster's clothes and wings = awesomeness in penciled form.

awesomeness in penned form

Hate to break the news to poor Razorwing, but Alexander is Aster's man now. They'll have to duke it out for her affection or something ^^

Thanks for the comment ^^

oh yeah, sorry for not getting to this.
I have a raven character, Razorwing. He is my ninja equivalent to wolverine, and had a thing for Aster. Therefore, if he saw Alexander with her like that, he'd probably try and decapitate him.

Alexander has a permenant leg injury, so he cannot walk well even under his own power. He usually uses a cane or his long sword to support himself whenever he's outside.

In this case, he has to bear the brunt and carry Aster away from her assailant after he dispatched them. Guess it's down to the nitty-gritty of it all, and you have to bite the bullet and do things, no matter how much they hurt, or how much you think you can't do it.

Alex is my inner strength, and yes.. Even he has to tough out the hard times..

WHO DID THIS TO ASTERCROW!!?

It was those damned Power Rangers again! Wasn't it!? I call for vengence!

This is your greatest work yet. The detail in this is breath-taking. I don't know what else to say that kokiteno hasn't already said.

By the look on his face, Alexander seems to be in more pain than Aster. It's the same expression that I have when I step on a Lego brick. Those things really hurt when you step on them.

Again, keep up the good work. All my heart goes out to Astercrow. Rest-up noble warrior.

Power Rangers?.... Ugh, you make me sick XD
*Aster kicks Power Rangers ass all over the place even with her own ass having been kicked*

Not nearly my best work... but a decent piece for something I was just doodling out at work one day.

And yes, legos do hurt when you step on them (I laughed so hard reading that) and Alexander is going through that, except it's more like walking on a hundred thousand sharp and jagged lego pieces, and sending all the pain straight to one area in his leg.

Don't worry 'bout Aster though... she's a tough bird. She'll be fine.

Wow. Looks so cool. Man, you are extremely talented there. As talented as many others I viewed in my years surfing the net.

And since this is part of the story Burke wrote. Maybe I should give him a ring and try to see if I can read it so that I can know how this pic came up.

Looks to be a great story since this pic came out so great.

This comes from a story I wrote along with Lisa, when she had an unfortunate run in with a strong warrior from the forest.

I'm proud of the way Alex handles himself with Aster, he and she needs to be strong for both each other.

As for the art itself, VERY excellent line work and detail and all with just ink. You've really indeed captured both their tourtured inner-self and their ability to withstand anything together.

Thank you for the awesome drawing, Lisa.

I am left in awe!! Ever since I drooled over your Ex Libris, I have been a HUGE fan of your inking ability. This picture only proves that you're amazing with them. Wow, and I do mean wow.
I mean, I could stare at a litte bit of this picture for hours on end. I'm stunned at the massive ammount of detail you packed! Five hours were very well spent.

OK ok, pace yourself. Let's start with Astercrow. Gosh, I'm wondering how you began to draw her. I mean, the pose is so natural that at one point I think that Alexander was drawn first, but then I think maybe it was her who was drawn first. The interaction between the two characters is so deep that I feel that I'm seeing only one and not two.
Anyways, I love how you made her look so fragile and hurt in this picture, but not the kind seen in fairytale princesses. She looks battered and broken, a fighter that had her fire snuffed out. She's a wounded animal, not some broken china doll. Her body is gorgeous in her firmness, I love how supple and feminine she looks. What I love the most, though, is how you hid her face from the viewer and how her hand's clutching Alexander. Even in her state, she's still got some fight left in her. Atta girl!
The torn and tattered clothing are.. well.. the coolest. I see that you went all out and decided to use th clothing as accessories to accentuate her instead of just being rags to show how hurt she is. Look at how you're showing her back, shoulder and her belly. Notice how you've left almost half of her breast uncovered. With the jeans you were a but more conservative, but that's OK. Her legs are clearly defined in her pants, the rips are placed nicely to show the extent of her damage, and I LOVE HER TAIL!!

Alexander. The first word that came to mind was "Real Prince", so I'm sticking by it. He's got the looks, the pose and even the wardrobe to identify him with a fable prince rescuing his damsel. But in his case, he's not one that's living in a fairytale. His face doesn't show that serene calm of the fairytale prince or the macho look of the usual TV hero. He's struggling and he's suffering as he carries the wounded Astercrow from the battlefield. His pain makes him human (or furry in this case), makes him a real living thing and not just some ideal archetype made flesh. You managed to beautifully capture his pained expression, and it speaks volumes!
The clothing is very interesting. It seems militaristic, but also of nobility at the same time. Interesting combo, I think.

On both characters, though, I must say I love how you made the wings. They're breathtakingly gorgeous in their detail and makeup, and I can't help but stare at the way you drew the broken wing on Astercrow.
Also, the shading blows my mind, literally. I'm in awe at how you managed to create depth, and how you actually were cabable of using ink on a pair of black-coloured characters. One would normally think of that as a hinderance, but you embraced it and made a masterpiece.

Gorgeous work, Lisa! Simply amazing

Haha.. thanks for the supremely awesome comment XD I'll have to get bored more often at work ^_~

To answer your comments....

I started with the line for Aster's arm, and worked on the angle of it and her hand, then worked in Alex's shoulders and neck. After that I just continued with Aster's form, tucking her head in and letting her wings and tail hang to show a bit more how broken her spirit is. I tore her clothes up a bit and lightly shaded her all in.. then I went back and worked the rest of Alex in, forging the struggle and pain in his face and framing Aster with his wings. The original light shading I had for both of them worked pretty nicely but it didn't have enough contrast, so I darkened it up quite a bit, to the point where I was actually afraid that I lost a lot of the smooth detail in the process... but I guess it came out alright after all.

Whew. The pen I used is actually a hybrid between ballpoint and rollerball, and it kept giving me a hard time with blobbing..but aside from that it wasn't bad, just hard to use. There's a graininess that pens like that have that make them perfect for use with shading in ink. Otherwise it'd be all crosshatch or stipple, and that's not my style. I try to get as fine and smooth shading like that as I can cause..well... that's what I like ^^

Anyway... enough blabbering. Thanks again for the comment Koki ^^
