Description This was inspired by the awesome film: "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty".
Except Oliver's on a fox-themed hoverboard, cause he's a fox wanna-be. (No, not in that way you pervert. >.> )

Hardly seems like a painting to be critiqued, but I need feedback on what to improve on. Your honesty would be appreciated.
Regular comments are welcome too! Anything you feel needs work on or that you like, please don't be afraid to mention!

i'm not a master artist or anything, i just draw flat cartoons. you did a lot of things in this drawing that i'd have a really tough time doing myself.

first off, I think the landscape you drew is absolutely beautiful. the mountain thing and the colors you chose and how you implemented them is just so beautiful.

You also did a great job of showing motion, not only with the white lines but also especially in the way you rendered the road. i can really feel how fast he's going owo

The pose you drew is a really, really tough one. not just cause of the way he's positioned, but because of the angle and the understanding of depth needed to pull it off. honestly, you did better than i think I could do. depth is so annoying, it never wants to cooperate. but i really feel like the paw in front is extending forward, and it really looks believable. awesome job on that owo

if there was one thing to change, i think i'd say it's the blades of grass. some of them look hook shaped, and it kinda messes with the flow of motion a little bit. Also, you can see the flat green behind the blades, so they feel a little bit pasted on top, ya know what i mean? I'd say either use a brush and make the blades really cover up, or maybe even take them out. at this speed it's not very easy to make out blades of grass anyway x3

anywho awesome job, this picture is fantastic. owo *thumbs up* DO MOAR LIEK DIS

Thank you for critiquing this! There will definitely be more like this, after I practice more landscape paintings and drawing grass. x3

Thanks for the advice! ^^

I'd like to start this critique like I do all the others, I am not a professional and I can be brutally honest. So please take whatever I write as opinion and not fact and with a pretty large grain of salt.

With that out of the way, I'll break down each of the 4 criteria, explain why I rated them how I did, and finish it off with a closing statement.

Vision: The composition does a pretty great job of conveying ideas of speed and action but could use improvement in a few small areas. Those mainly being a speed blur on either the close environment or character (depending on if they camera is stationary or moving with the character). Furthermore, even though it does convey that speed theme, that's pretty much all it says. What emotion is the main character feeling? Is he in a race? Just cruising? Not much information is presented.

Originality: Not a whole lot to say here. This piece isn't particularly original, but it's also not trying to do much so it's hard to be very unique. The pose is great and fresh, but the rest is pretty common.

Technique: To start this one off, I gotta say that I love the pose. It's wonderfully active and has a cool perspective. On top of that, the shading and general linework is pretty alright. The head seems a bit big, but that can be easily chalked up to style. Where I run into some problems is the focus of the painting and the background detail. With the color palette remaining vivid across the picture, your eye doesn't snap to the main character and it doesn't stay there either. Even more so, the background is lacking detail in some areas and then has some sparse detail elsewhere. This inconsistency is jarring at best. While the lack of detail possibly serves as a sort of motion blur, it's possible to have both detail and motion.

Impact: This sort of harkens back to the Vision category. The posing and composition do help to convey the action idea, but without much emotion from the character and environmental cues, the emotional impact is minimal.

I'd like to end this by saying that, despite what my ratings may suggest, I did really enjoy this piece. It's fun and exciting, but it needs a lot of work before it's a "5 star" in my mind. I hope the ratings weren't too harsh and well backed up! I can't wait to see what you put out in the future!

(Haha! Thank goodness for coffee shop internet! ^^ )

You're critique was well thought through and backed up! This is what I was looking for! I found it very useful and look forward to putting your advice into practice.

Thanks. I feel like I've got to follow this up by saying that a 3/5 in my book is still really good. The way I look at it, a 1 should make me visually cringe and a 5 should be so amazing that I want to see it all the time at every point in the day.

Secret Life Of Walter Mitty! I've been meaning to draw something from this film for a while now, in fact this very same scene! Such a wonderful movie, you captured it very well, can even hear the soundtrack to it now XD Great work!

It was my favourite scene of the film! So I can understand why you'd want to draw it. ^^
If you end up doing it I wanna see!
And I was playing the movie's soundtrack while I was streaming this. x3

Thank you!  ^^
