"He gazed upon the hazy apparition that appeared somewhat feline and considered his options. If this was an illusion simply to mock him or cause him to panic, he mustn't lose his step. However, if it were actually his friend trapped within such horrific confines, he needed to rescue her at all costs. To have one's essence confined in such a dark way would be the cruelest form of torture.

The young cat studied the wavering figure within and allowed a single paw to reach out and brush the smooth glass of the jar. An immediate sense of fear, horror and shock overwhelmed him as the emotion of the trapped figure reached out to him upon contact. He jerked his paw back with such force he tumbled over backwards and sent the jar plummeting to the ground from the rock it rested on.

Lunging forward, he tried to catch it by wrapping his front legs around it and rolling into it. Squeezing his eyes shut as the jar pressed against his heart and the emotions from inside multiplied tenfold from the first touch. Pain, terror, and panic washed over him in an unwavering tsunami as he skidded to a stop a few feet away. Now that the jar lie safely and unbroken on the dirt floor of the dark forest, he scrambled as far away from it as he could, clambering to all fours once more as his rapid breathing shook him."
