Thanks. There are two types of Sphinx that are recognised as such...the Greek one from the Greek myth of Oedipus. The other are the Egyptian ones that do not have wings, but come in a variety of heads on lion bodies. The Jewish "Sphinx" are called the Cherubim that guarded Eden. They possessed 4 heads a lion's body 2 to 4 wings and had flaming swords.The Gryphon is a mythological beast that are from the middle to far east, that possessed a head of an eagle with the ears of a dog, with a lion's body and wings of an eagle.
