Description

When Gynoframe™ realized that their old Maidframe©, robotic civilian maids, were now out of fashion, they wondered if they could possibly recycle them into ''Heavy Security Drones'', aka robotic soldiers. Partnering with EnergoArm™, a small startup with patents on a cutting-edge direct energy weapons technology, they armed their upgraded robotic frames with high-tech weaponry. From assault-rifles, to snipers, machineguns and submachineguns, EnergoArm™ was even able to design projectile energy with missile-launcher and even experimental shotgun-like detonating shells for short range burst.

With Gynoframe™ upgrading the base frame with better sensors installed on external visors, the new LavenderSquad© security force was almost ready to be presented to potential buyers, the marketing department even devising ''sexy-uniform'' to boost sales.

But some larger units training exercises were planned to test their coordination.

To their disappointment, Gynoframe™ realized that the LavenderSquad© Neurotronic© brain was unable to coordinate more then a dozen units together. Entering discussion with AAII™, the constructor of the Maidframe© Neurotronic© brain, a possible solution was devised that would only need a software update instead of a new AI brain hardware. This new software basically recreated the Neurotronic© logic pattern but through shared connectivity with neighboring units, the more units near each others, the more complex and potent the processing power became.

With the update being a success with small units, it was uploaded to all current LavenderSquad© models and large units training exercises were tried again. This time it was a complete success, the large army of  LavenderSquad© were able to overcome all opposition, including the human security forces supposed to keep them in check. When Gynoframe™ tried to shutdown the rogue AI army, it discovered to their horror that the shared connectivity basically prevented them to issue the order, as it was immediately countered by neighboring units which haven't received it yet. The only silver lining was that the out of control force seemed content to simply secure their immediate vicinity instead of spreading around.

Now, with million of rogue, heavily armed, gynoids camping in the remote training ground, Gynoframe™ had to find a way to disable them before they suddenly decided that razing the neighboring town was the next fun thing to do.

The right decision would have been to contact the army, admit their failure and demand to drop an EMP above them.

But it would require to admit failure, which could bring both legal and financial penalties.

Why do that when you could instead build robots to destroy your rogue robots ?

So Gynoframe™ took the remaining unsold Maidframe© laying in warehouses and modified them to be used as soldiers, creating the brand new NeonSquad©. Now, there was some issues, notably that EnergoArm™ was close to bankruptcy as the supposed sales never materialized and instead closed the experimental weapon assembly lines as part of cost saving measures. So old, regular thermo-balistic, weapons were bought on the black market to arm close to two million robots as well as massive bullets reserves. Cheap, repurposed, uniforms were quickly devised to cloth the new army, mostly to protect their robotic frames from the elements.

Now, short on time and cash, Gynoframe™ decided to skip the advanced sensors and technology, instead relying on tons of military software updates to give them crash-course on basic units tactics as well as weaknesses from LavenderSquad© combat programs.

AAII™ even devised a different way to enable large units formation without relying on the problematic shared connectivity software. This new program gave each units individual and independent learning capacity, with only a minority of gynoids, acting as ''officers'', that would be able to coordinate their units, as well as sharing learning with other soldiers and, connecting with other officers, with other units.

The brand new NeonSquad© army was deployed with minimal testing due to troubling movement from the rogue LavenderSquad© units. Deployed with their large supply reserves, the NeonSquad© immediately entered contact with their enemy and firefight broke out. If at first NeonSquad© units were under disadvantage due to their lack of advanced technology, their learning capacity slowly allowed them to take back the initiative.

Gynoframe™ was elated but found that the advance was too slow to their taste, especially as shareholders were demanding both results and sales, as the situation had been kept secret from everybody, including them. Hiring private security, Gynoframe™ thought that deploying them as elite support units for their NeonSquad© would immediately bring a quick end to the conflict but to their panic, the PMC were almost immediately engaged by both the LavenderSquad© and NeonSquad© soldiers.

Gynoframe™ was horrified to realize that, in their panic, had not included an IFF detector in their new army. Worst, when they tried to include a software update to include some IFF-capacity to the NeonSquad© army, their software packages were denied by the ''officers''. Yeah, that independence suddenly didn't seemed as a good idea anymore.

So, Gynoframe™ was more or less stuck with three million gynoids fighting eachothers in the wild, with no way to control or shut them down.

Now, the right decision would have been to contact the army, admit their failure and demand to drop an EMP above them.

But it would require to admit failure, which could bring both legal and financial penalties.

Why do that when you could instead simply wait for both of them to destroy eachothers ?

Well, that was three decades ago.

Gynoframe™ is gone, having filed bankruptcy, its assets sold to rival company.

Technically including the million gynoids still shooting eachothers in a trench-filled wild area.
