The Skyriver Galaxy was one of the billions of galaxies that existed in the universe. Composed of some four hundred billion stars in a disk 120,000 light-years in diameter, only 1/4 of the galaxy has been properly surveyed and charted by the time of the Republic's waning years. the galaxy was orbited by seven smaller satellite galaxies, of which five were directly accessible by the time of the Galactic Empire. The galaxy was home to between five and twenty million sentient species, and over one hundred quadrillion sentient beings lived in one billion star systems, interacting with each other through travel, diplomacy, trade, politics, and war. In historical memory, this galaxy had been ruled by the Galactic Republic, the Galactic Empire, the New Republic, the First Order and was home to the Force-using orders of the Jedi and the Sith.
Space within the Skyriver Galaxy has been divided into 9 regions: the Deep Core, the Core Worlds, the Colonies, the Inner Rim, the Expansion Region, the Mid Rim, the Outer Rim Territories, and the still largely unexplored regions of Wild Space and the Unknown Regions.
1. THE DEEP CORE
The Deep Core was a small region in the Skyriver Galaxy, about seven thousand light-years across, that hid unusual worlds. The Deep Core was home to some thirty billion of the galaxy's oldest stars, and at its center was a massive black hole known as the Galactic Center surrounded by antimatter and dense clusters where stars were only a hundredth of a light year apart. In some areas they were in such close proximity, stars would collide and rip the cores from each other. Due to the gravitational pull of the vast number of stars and the prominence of dark matter concentrations, local space-time was severely warped, making hyperspace travel difficult at best. The Deep Core held great strategic value because of its position near to the Core Worlds. Notable celestial objects within the Deep Core include the Wellspring of Life, Tython, Byss, Koros Major/Empress Teta, Vulpter, and Had Abbadon.
2. THE CORE WORLDS
The Core Worlds were some of the most prestigious, well-developed, well-known, least politically restrictive and heavily populated planets in the Skyriver Galaxy. The Core was the hub of galactic culture, finance, technology, education, and fine arts. Noble houses held a great deal of influence in this region and almost every interstellar company had offices or were headquartered in the Core Worlds. In astrophysical terms, the Core denoted the central area of the galaxy, and in broad terms this was true enough, but the precise usage of the term was often more complex. Notable celestial objects within the Core Worlds include Coruscant, Alderaan, Corellia, Kuat, N'zoth, Anaxes, Abregado-rae, Skako, Duro, Alsakan, Columus, and Vardos.
3. THE COLONIES
The Colonies was a region of the Skyriver Galaxy between the Core Worlds and the Inner Rim. Due to its proximity to the galaxy's economic and political powerhouse, the Core Worlds, the Colonies was a largely wealthy region consisting of booming industrial worlds, trade centers, and garden worlds. Notable celestial objects within the Colonies include Carida, Cato Neimoidia, Fondor, Devaron, and Arkania.
4. THE INNER RIM
The Inner Rim was a region of the galaxy between the Colonies and the Expansion Region. A millennia before the Galactic Civil War, the Inner Rim was referred to as the Unknown Reaches. Notable celestial objects within the Inner Rim include Onderon & Dxun, Jakku, Manaan, Antar, Mechis III, Thyferra, Myrkr, Taanab, Hapes, and Obroa-skai.
5. THE EXPANSION REGION
The Expansion Region was located between the Inner Rim and the Mid Rim in the Skyriver Galaxy. Notable celestial objects within the Expansion Region include Umbara, Shili, Mimban, Nkollon, Thisspias, Cymoon-1, Aquaris, Kerkoidia, Thustra, and Sibensko.
6. THE MID RIM
The Mid Rim was a region of the galaxy located between the Expansion Region and the Outer Rim Territories. With fewer natural resources—and therefore a smaller population—than many neighboring regions, the Mid Rim was a territory where residents worked hard for everything they had. Several planets built up impressive economies, and pirate raiders often hid in the relatively unexplored spaces far from major trade routes. Notable celestial objects within the Mid Rim include Naboo, Kashyyyk, Trandosha, Jedha, Takodana, Malastare, Vandor, Ruusan, The Wheel, Wobani, Toydaria, Iridonia, Ithor, Ord Mantell, Bothawui, Ando, and Bimmisaari.
7. THE OUTER RIM TERRITORIES
The Outer Rim Territories were located outside the Mid Rim. The Outer Rim was the least widely settled and explored expanse of the galaxy before Wild Space and the Unknown Regions. The largest region in the galaxy, it was strewn with diverse worlds, and rugged, primitive frontier planets. Notable celestial objects within the Outer Rim Territories include Tatooine, Yavin 4, Dantooine, Hoth, Bespin, Dagobah, Endor, Mustafar, Korriban, Utapau, Ryloth, Geonosis, Mandalore & Concordia, Felucia, Mygeeto, Polis Massa, Kessel, the Maw Black Hole Cluster, Hypori, Sullust, Crait, D'Qar, Eriadu, Rodia, Christophsis, Nelvaan, Scarif, Rishi, Eadu, Teth, Cantonica, Zygerria, Ziost, Peragus II, Telos IV, Malachor V, Florrum, Rhen Var, Ossus, Raxus Prime, Jabiim, Rattatak, Muunilist, Bastion, Sernpidal, Bonadan, and Nal Hutta & Nar Shaddaa.
8. WILD SPACE
Wild Space was the frontier of galactic society, separating the known parts of the Skyriver Galaxy from the Unknown Regions of the western half of the galactic disk, as well as the fringes of the Outer Rim Territories and the arms of the galaxy. The term had varied greatly over the years, encompassing all areas of partially explored or charted areas as known throughout various stages of galactic history. Notable celestial objects within Wild Space include Kamino, Anoth, Bakura, Mortis, Thune, and Seoul.
9. THE UNKNOWN REGIONS
The Unknown Regions is was the collective term used for both those regions of the Skyriver Galaxy not formally charted and the disparate companion galaxies in orbit beyond the galactic disk; it differed from Wild Space in that Wild Space was usually minimally charted, but not fully explored. The Unknown Regions was broadly defined as areas not connected with the skein of reliable or well-known hyperspace routes spanning the galaxy, did not belong to the wider well-known galactic community, did not look to Coruscant as the ultimate center of civilization, or were not under the broad hegemony of the Galactic Republic before the Galactic Civil War. Beyond the region's outer edge lay the hyperspace disturbance beyond the edge of the galaxy. Notable celestial objects within the Unknown Regions include Csilla, Ilum, Starkiller Base, Rakata Prime, Zakuul, Lwhekk, Zonoma Sekot, Ahch-To, and Exegol.
Notes:
For those who wanna know why the Galaxy Far, Far Away is called "Skyriver", Skyriver was the name that the Nagai always referred the main Star Wars galaxy, according to The Essential Atlas. The Galaxy in Star Wars is given a name as of yet, so in Journal of the Whills, "the Galaxy Far, Far Away" that we all know will be called Skyriver.
