The most irritating quality I find is that it could have been so much more, it's like going 2/3s of the way somewhere conceptually.

Tell me about it.  I've still got a few more 1980s collections to get through before I get to Atomic Betty, but depending on what's happening this weekend, I might go ahead and pop it in.

I used to do that, try to power through a whole series, sometimes it's worth it most of the time not. Striking a balance for some series helps

Some of the ones I have watched were pretty good, though I have been fortunate to be able to find something engaging about all of them.  But usually, I get tired of them, so I do feel like I have to push on to get through them.

Yeah there's a point where I have to break from some things for a while. I gain appreciation for newer cartoons after trying to slog through old stuff.

I hate to say this, but I haven't seen any of late (outside the superhero cartoons) that really made me go, "Oh good.  This'll be fun to watch."

I never saw the original, dear ... we didn't get such cartoons down here during my childhood.  Hell, we didn't get Disney afternoon until like 1990 or 1991.  

Just saw the first couple of episodes of Atomic Betty ... cute, but her mother is like a slightly toned down Peg Bundy.

Forget the original, it is what it is, the new one is so frickin' good, it's the only one that matters. It's on Netflix ... or other online sources *cough*KissCartoon*cough*

Yeah, there's a lot of stuff like that in Atomic Betty. It's an OK show but almost Good which is frustrating, the designs really stand out which is why they are fun to draw, at least to me. The villains are also usually good even if the action is limited.

There are a lot of Canadian references in the show that I'm pretty sure nobody outside would get

Mm ... I dislike Netflix more than I do Hilary Clinton ... well, almost as much.  

It looks like a great cartoon and it's got everything I like about a good cartoon: great characters/designs, backgrounds, and lots of fun.  I almost got through all 16 episodes last night; I have about two more to finish up what I have.

Really? Netflix is pretty kick ass, I'm actually considering cutting cable and just sticking with OTA and video streaming

I'm glad you are enjoying it! There are some really great episodes, the Christmas special with Bill Shatner is probably my favorite

haha no worries, like for one of the references right off the top is the school principal is modeled after legendary hockey commentator Don Cherry, from the speech mannerisms to the ridiculous suits (I'll leave you to google that on your own) sometimes they make little references to things here and there. It's a bit dated (show's over 10 years old now wow) but still leads to a chuckle. One of the VAs is a veteran Canadian actor who has been in MANY cartoons over the years.

I remember them from way back when they just were starting out.  Between their sorry customer service, their charging me five days into the fourteen days of trail service, and the poor conditions of the DVDs, I swore off Netflix.  Now, I got it ... it's great now, but I just refuse to use them on principle, especially when I usually buy what I like.  

I'm not sure they have that episode ... it's 16 episodes which is probably not the entire series.
